Received Kelly Phelps as a member of DPC by reaffirmation of faith. Received Lloyd Martin, Jr. as a member of DPC by profession of faith and approved his baptism. Approved discontinuation of the Shepherding Program per the recommendation of the Congregational Care Committee. We encourage anyone who has special relationships with their sheep to continue those relationships on a personal basis. The Session has asked the Congregational Care Committee to collaborate with the New Member Assimilation Team in providing special attention to our new members in their first year of membership. Additionally, the Session has asked the Congregational Care Committee to continue to explore alternatives to the Shepherding program, especially for our more vulnerable members. Approved the recommendation from the Finance Committee that the session not develop a repayment plan for the $10,000 that was moved from savings in 2011 to improve cash flow in the operating funds. Approved the recommendation from the Finance Committee that the Investment Advisory Group (IAG) authorize Heather Schwarting, Ray Minch, Don Eason, John Mayes and Charles Miller to act with Smith Barney on behalf of the IAG. Approved recommendation from the Stewardship Committee to designate 40 percent of receipts from the upcoming Pentecost Offering for our local ministry at Pauls Mobile Homes Estates. Approved financial reports from the church treasurer and the Denbigh Presbyterian Pre-K treasurer through March 2012. Received reports from Session committees. Waived last 2011 payment from DPPK to DPC for utilities due to DPPK cash flow concerns.
DPC will work on Saturday, May 19, 2012. For more information contact Terry Hall.

(*denotes items for which we need additional donations) $60 for school fees for students at Foison school (school fees are $150-200 per year per child) $1630 to provide school lunches for Foisons school children ($23 per year per child) $385 for undesignated construction projects $190 for the Foison Water Project ($10 to lay each length of pipe on hand presently) Bruce Robinson, a member of our church and an engineering missionary in Haiti, reports that a steady stream of children at the Foison school are being brought to the nurse daily because they have passed out from hunger. Bruce asks that through the end of May our congregation focus on providing funds for school lunches for these children. When school ends for the summer, Bruce would like us to turn our attention to financial support for the water project that will bring clean water to Foison. This water project will help Foisons people survive the hot summer months and provide a means of irrigating food gardens in the region. Contributions of school materials may be left on the kitchen counter at the church. Financial donations may be placed in envelopes and designated for the following purposes: School Fees (Foison/Passe Catabois) School Equipment/Materials (Foison/Passe Catabois) School Lunches (Foison) Clean Water (Foison) Undesignated (General Construction Funds Crossworld)
Thank you for participating in One Great Hour of Sharing. $655.00 has been collected for this offering.
As we celebrate the Day of Pentecost, May 27, we also have the opportunity to donate to the Pentecost offering, one of the four special offerings by the General Assembly of our church. This offering is used to help children around the world. Forty percent of our offering will remain in this area. The smiles and enthusiasm of the children we have met through our ministry at Pauls Mobile Home Estates have been a real delight. Therefore, our portion of this offering will be used to further our ministry there.
Our confirmation class has been active in recent weeks with many activities. Class members have attended a Presbytery confirmation retreat at Makemie Woods, a Jewish worship service at Temple Sinai, a Passover Seder Meal and many Sunday morning classes. The class has also served those in need by helping to pack 36,000 meals for hungry people through Stop Hunger Now. The class will be attending a worship service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, volunteering at the Food Bank, continuing their classes and having their own confirmation retreat here at DPC in the coming weeks. Please keep in prayer the members of the confirmation class as well as their mentors as they follow their faith journey. Members of the confirmation class are Heather and Suzanna Mansell, Nimere Smith, Ethan and Brendon Barkdull, Bayley and Kinsey Shefelton, Josh Avery and Chloe Lascara. Our confirmation class; mentors, Bob and Rosemary Murphy; Deborah Dail and Liz Marshall participated in the Stop Hunger Now event at Yorkminster Presbyterian Church on April 14. Together with 150 other volunteers from 5 churches we packed 36,000 high protein dehydrated meals for impoverished children. For more information go to www.stophungernow.org.
