Introduction Computer in education gives lots of knowledge to students in order to make sure the students is equipped with technology knowledge or in other words I.T. That is important because our country now; Malaysia is developing in the new era of globalization. It is not only in Malaysia but also globally in all other countries. I.T is being use throughout the world in terms of communication; we can contact and connect with people anywhere and everywhere as long as there are internet lines. The components of the computer are being taught in school and the usage of computers has also been taught to kindergarten children. Computer is very important nowadays and the knowledge of it should be learned by everyone. People with knowledge of computer hold many advantages in terms of respect and work. Everything could be done effectively and organized. We ourselves gain so much knowledge when our group was assigned to build our own web page. We learn how to design the web, how to link it, how to organize it and many more. We also learn some basic in various software such as Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Publisher and Swishmax. It really needs a lot of effort and knowledge in order to build a good, professional web page. Before this we only know how to surf in the web but after the project, we now know how to be the pioneer of the web. We also learn how to key in data into Microsoft Excel to make our data more organize and appropriate. With Microsoft Excel, every data could be counted easily and various charts and analysis could be done with no problem in a short time (as long as we have the knowledge). All of this must be learnt by us especially because we are the apprentice of teacher in the future. Knowledge of Excel could be used to organize students marks and analysis of students achievement would be far easier. We also need all the knowledge on technology too because we will deal with students that have been exposed with computer since their childhood time. They are sure to be up to date especially seeing kids today evolving great intelligency and expertise in many things in a young age. We as future teachers need to be equipped to gain their respect and be able to teach all the knowledge that we should.

About the Project The Website The website is generally about the autobiography of each group member. Each group member will come up with a summary of their life story or what ever extent they would want to include and share with others. After doing so, each group member would construct their own website based on their own creativity and preferences. Once that has been done, each members website would be compiled to create one whole website. During this stage, many things would be edited in order for all individual pages to be designed related to each other. Then the group page will be created. In this group page it is all about us as a group in building the website together. The website also includes a special link to our Microsoft Excel assignment which is the Gradebook. Here, people could view our work and check all data that had been key in and analyzed.

The Grade book The grade book is basically a demonstration of skill in using the application of Microsoft Excel. From our basic knowledge of the application to the knowledge that we have learned in lecture, we incorporated all of it into our gradebook. Formulas that were taught in class, how to create pies or bars according to the data we have and even how to decorate the excel layout to make it look interesting. There is no significant meaning of the data used because it is only the one Mr. Syarul gave which is used by all other groups besides us.

Team Members. This project is a group project. 6 people is involved which is Aqilah Binti Osmadi, Syazalinah Binti Wasli, Farah Zahidah Binti Mohd Noor, Fadia Rashaa Binti Mohammed, Sheldon Lojiu, Nur Hanisah Binti Hamzah; all from ED220U1C. There are two projects in this

one assignment which is Excel Gradebook and Web Development. Everyone has their own task in each part. For the Excel Gradebook, various tasks were distributed. The Excel Maker is Syazalinah and Fadia Rashaa. Excel Maker is the people mostly involve in the basic structure of the Excel. Aqilah as the editor and Farah as the Sub-Editor are responsible for the language and wording used in the Excel. Syazalinah assist them as the Editorial Assistant. Features Writer is Sheldon. He is responsible of the style of language used and the style of wording. In excel context, since there are not much wordings, it is the numbers that became the focus. Each formula chosen to be used is their responsibility and each answer we gain is checked by them to make sure it is correct. Nur Hanisah as the Art Director and Creative Director is the person responsible of choosing and approving the right decoration for each sheet of the Gradebook. Graphic Designer, Fadia Rashaa is responsible to carry out each decoration approved and chosen by the Director. Production and Circulation Manager, Sheldon Lojiu and Production Executive, Aqilah are responsible of producing the whole of the Excel Gradebook in terms of publishing or print screen. Farah Zahidah as the Digital Imaging Artist is in charge of the photos chosen used for the Excel Gradebook. Next tasks distributed are under the Website Development. The Web Maker is Aqilah and Farah Zahidah. Web Maker is the people mostly involve in the basic structure of the Website. Rashaa as the editor and Sheldon as the Sub-Editor are responsible for the language and wording used in the Website. Syazalinah assist them as the Editorial Assistant. Features Writer is Hanisah. She is responsible of the style of language used and the style of wording. Farah Zahidah as the Art Director and Nur Hanisah as the Creative Director is the person responsible of choosing and approving the right decoration for each scene in the Website made. Graphic Designer, Aqilah is responsible to carry out each decoration approved and chosen by the Director. Production and Circulation Manager, Sheldon Lojiu and Production Executive, Fadia Rashaa are responsible of producing the

whole of the Website Development in terms of publishing. Syazalinah as the Digital Imaging Artist is in charge of the photos chosen used in the Website Development. These are the main task carried out by each team members for each project.

Project Time-Line. The Website Development This project officially starts out at the beginning of March. We start out with a meeting at the library. We discussed all that need to be done at that time. Each member is assigned to provide their biodata, pictures and anything to share on a piece of paper so that it would be easier to conduct each individual site. It is supposed to be hand in by the end of the weekend. However, by that time we decided to use Microsoft Publisher. And so because of that, we asked each member to provide the details needed in Publisher itself. We believe that it would be far easier to conduct the website later. On the 21st of March, we met once again at the library to conduct a video session. Here we record a video clip of us hanging out at the library, viewing pictures at the photo gallery and actually criticizing them as if we are professionals. However, all critics are strictly our own point of view and have no purpose of offending the artists. On that weekend, we have all individual sites so we decided to compile them. Only after that we would create sites involving each and everyone of us. However, it took a few days to check and experiment using the publisher. It turns out that we cant insert the video clip that we had record. After asking Mr. Syarul, we got the Microsoft Frontpage software but somehow, we didnt manage to install it correctly in the two laptops used for the website building. And so we decided to use Swishmax at last. It took a few days to experiment and understand it but we manage. And so we start building each individual site, group site and excels site. It took as long as one week to finish it up, everyday at 8:00p.m to 3 or 4 in the morning. On the 3rd of April, everything was ready. Last thing that need to be done was editing the words making sure there will be no typo error, adding some music for individual page, and adding the video. Approximately at 0000 of 4th of April 2008, we add the

video and something happen to the website file; format file unexpected: meaning, it couldnt be opened. What bad luck at that time because no one thought of saving a back up! We build the website once more all over again starting from the scratch. That took time until 6 in the morning to complete everything. But because of the short time, we decided to make it simple, no movements, no songs for individual page and definitely no video clip! We guess that our video clip is simply too big in size and couldnt be inserted. The next morning, all was left to do was to burn the website into a cd and print the pages of the website. As we reach our computer class, we realize that Mr. Syarul does not need printed pages of the website. Instead, he just wants a documentation of the project. Nervous breakdown once again, some settles the cd thingy while others settle the documentation. In the middle of all that, we were jealous and frustrated seeing other website have videos and our video couldnt be included in the website. And so we record a last minute one outside the computer lab which we make sure too only a few seconds for each group members. By 11.00 that day, everything was nearly ready when we got the news that Mr. Syarul gave time until Wednesday. That was very fortunate of us as we could edit the simple website and the documentation done last minute. On Friday night, we finish up the documentation. All that is left to do is the printing. On Saturday, we edit the website from the afternoon until 12 midnight. We also edit the video using Windows Movie Maker. On Sunday we tried to insert the video and some songs or sounds for each individual page. All of it was done successfully except for the video clip once again. It couldnt be inserted no matter what method we try. We also put some movement on pages that do not have any sound effect. Besides that, we got the cover for envelope and cd cover design and ready. Last of all, we publish the website. On Monday, everything was printed and ready to be handed in on Wednesday.

Excel Gradebook This project also officially starts out at the beginning of March. The time we start out with a meeting at the library and discussed all that need to be done; excel was one of it. We

divided class, charts and pies to different members. Each was due by the next week of the meeting. Then when all was done, they were handed in to another member whose job is to combine it all together and do the analysis of both classes. 3 days after that, the project is handed to another person who is responsible of creating a chart out of the data that have been analyzed. Now that the basic structure is done, the project is handed to a group of members responsible of editing the very next day. They organize the fonts, font size and any wording involve. Besides that, they were also responsible of checking each data to make sure that answers gained is correct and formulas used are right. This took a few days. The project is handed to the second group of members of the group to sit together and design the layout of each sheet, insert pictures and creatively design it to make it look interesting to put it in the website. Last but not least, the whole of Excel was handed to 3 members of the group responsible of copying each sheet into a picture (print screen) so that we could put a picture of the overall view of each sheet in Excel into the website. That was the last stage of completing the Excel Gradebook. We had it done by the middle of March and were ready to be put into the website. We are very thankful that the Microsoft Excel project was smooth with not much problem compared to the website. We are also thankful that even with the problem with the website, we manage to finish up the Excel Gradebook without disturbance.

Conclusion . After a hard work with full of determination, we manage to complete this assignment regarding website development and Excel gradebook. We have done our best in order to produce the best outcomes which could benefits many people. Though the outcome is rather simple, the effort poured into the project by each group member cannot be questioned. Some of us are not familiar with this project especially regarding website development. The only website most of us had done before is using the notepad which was very hard. We were not familiar with the different software that could be used and make the work a lot easier and effective. We are lucky that there are those that love computer in the group so that they can

teach our group members that do not understand. However, we have all tried our best and put a high effort for it even with all the problems occurred throughout the development of the group project. We are indeed very lucky that the Excel Gradebook did not cause much problem. Throughout this project, we have learnt many new beneficial things. First and foremost, we enhanced our knowledge regarding computer skills. For example; Microsoft Excel. By doing the Excel gradebook, we now know how to manage unsorted data and group it according to different classes systematically. We also brushed up our knowledge regarding Microsoft Excel because some of us already forgot it as we learnt it a long time ago during our school years. Since we rarely used or apply it in our life, the knowledge learnt easily slip out of our mind. Besides that, we gain knowledge about webpage maker which we are not very familiar with except for some of us as mentioned earlier. We spent days and nights in front of the computer screen in order to finish up the task. For some of us who are beginner, we learned from other friends who have the knowledge of using different softwares like Swishmax, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft FrontPage. Actually, this project helps to strengthen the relationship between each of the group members. We get to know each other better and foster better understanding through communication because we spend a lot of time together for this project. Moreover, other friends from different groups also helped one another in order to complete the assignment. This shows how much we are cooperating with each other regardless of different group. All in all, this project gives us a lot of benefits and advantages as we moved towards the development nation status by 2020. Knowledge regarding technology is really vital as every home is equipped with personal computer and internet for many uses. We need to keep up with the technology, not only in our country but also along with the world that is advancing everyday, every hour and every second. We need to catch up!
