Short Course on

Finite Element Method, Constitutive Modeling and Applications


To be conducted at Ahmedabad during April 02 05, 2012 Course Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the participants an overview on Finite Element Method, Material models, and Applications in Civil/Mechanical Engineering. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to have fair understanding of: Finite Element Method: Introduction and Equations Available material models for materials and interfaces/joints, such as those based on the Disturbed State Concept (DSC) Modeling of engineering systems and Soil Structure Interaction (SSI) Importance of influence of interfaces and joints on the behavior of engineering systems Implementation of material model in finite element method and applications.

Course Faculty
The course will be conducted by Dr. Chandrakant S. Desai:
Regents Professor, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA and Visiting Professor, IIT, GandhinagarInternationally known and author of various books on Finite Element Method and Constitutive Models.

Dr. Amit Prashant:


Associate Professor, IIT Gandhinagar, and on leave from IIT Kanpur, working in the area of Constitutive Modeling and Application of Finite Element Method in Geomechanics.

Certificate
Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate.

The course will be conducted at Gandhinagar premises in Ahmedabad. IIT
