subaltern, /sbltrn/ adj. refers to persons socially, politically, and geographically outside of the hegemonic power structure.

(setinggan, transexuality, bomoh, crime, etc.)

create maps and narratives that will be compiled into a publication


(the bomoh trail, density of murder infographics, life stories of prostitutes etc)

activity 1: follow the murder trail

tschumi-inspired urban play. groups to follow the trail and record what they find

activity 2: find the bomoh of kerinchi

Explore the supernatural side of KL groups need to ask around and find where the bomoh lives Create a supernatural map/story of KL

installation: you can go crazy!

Installations should find themes that are subaltern Example: sculpture on poverty, pavillion for ghosts, urban installation made for murderers

SUBALTERN performances?

Themes on subaltern for performances Example: the ghost dance? dikir barat pelacur? drag queen ala sharifah aini? its bloody endless!!

CONCLUSION
Fun, crazy and naughty activities keeps one from becoming an architectural bore The workshop talks about things we dont normally talk about in architecture The legacy: a publication & of course subaltern-aware participants!
