Greece, Egypt & Turkey Combos
The oldest civilisations in existence are those of Egypt, Greece and Turkey.
Egyptian civilisations emerged about 5 000 years ago.  Here we find some
of the first written words of civilization, ancient pyramids and giant columns
supporting massive temples.  We find the first paved roads, the first wines
and beer and even the first peace treaties between organized governments.
We also find the world’s first scientists, doctors, architects and
mathematicians.  The Greeks emerged from the dark ages about 3 000
years ago and brought drama, art, sculpture, democracy and philosophy to
our world.
Turkey has it’s own colourful history - it is said that Anthony and Cleopatra
honeymooned in Ephesus and that the Virgin Mary lived near Ephesus.  In
fact many of the first Christian teachings were to the people of Turkey.
Thompsons Holidays invites you explore the history of more than one of
these great nations by booking one of our combination packages.  Discover
the ancient tombs of the Pharaohs on a Nile cruise combined with the
beauty and history of the Greek isles, or explore the history of the Turkish
coast combined with a Greek Isle island hop, or experience the history of
all of these amazing places in one trip.

The Turkish Coast
Gullet Cruising from Marmaris & Bodrum
for 8 Days
The singular design of the gullet, Turkey’s indigenous sea-going vessel,
blends practicality and tradition in a relaxed style. Over the years
gullets have evolved from traditional fishing and cargo vessels into their
present profile of a broad beam and wide deck.  Constructed mainly in
the shipyards of Bodrum, Bozburun, Marmaris and Istanbul, these boats
are equipped with motors as well as fully functional rigging.
The number of passengers a gullet carries depends on the boat’s size,
although most of them accommodate between eight and twelve people.
These vessels have separate accommodation for passengers and are fully
inclusive.

Modern gullets are comfortably equipped with most home comforts and
provide a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for all passengers.
Unlike cruises on large ocean liners, a gullet can explore the secluded
and often deserted bays and coves of the coastline. The small harbours
and settlements offer an intimate view of coastal life which large ships
