The noise exposure monitoring results for different areas of GSK-CH SONEPAT are presented in Table form & also given in layout form, to differentiate zone as per the noisy area for some workplace. A review of the data in the table reveals that there is high noise in common service area, DG area, Boiler area, Coal yard, Mix-13.5 meter, QEE area, Spray & some misc. area are found noise more than the 85 dB (A), which is above the criterion level of the FA-1948, ACGIH guidelines & GSK-CH technical guidelines-709.

Recommendation
To minimize the risk of noise-related adverse effects on health and safety of employees, contract workmen and on the local community the following hierarchy is followed at the site: Eliminate or reduce noise at source wherever feasible. Where noise levels are still excessive, apply engineering measures to reduce exposures wherever feasible. Minimize any remaining risks through the use of administrative control measures e.g. restricted entry. Provide personal hearing protection only after all other feasible controls have been applied or as an interim measure until more effective controls can be implemented. The noise levels are monitored before and after applying feasible control and its records are kept with EHS department. Personnel Protective equipments for noise are provided at the required places. Personal hearing protection is maintained in good condition and that it is used, cleaned and stored correctly. All the high noise level area is marked properly. All persons who perform work in this area are properly trained and informed about the risk associated with high noise. Health surveillance, including the audiometric test, of all the employees who are exposed to high noise area, is done periodically and the results of which are communicated to the individual employees.
