THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
A mutual fund is an investment vehicle where a person or group of persons, called mutual fund managers, choose a group of stocks and sell them in one package. Different investment avenues are available to investors. Mutual funds also offer good investment opportunities to investors. Like all investments they also carry certain risks. The investors compare the risks and expected fields after adjustments of tax on various instruments while taking investments decisions.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Rajarajan (2000) has attempted to identify predictors of individual investors' expected rate of return by investigating relationship of demographic variables such as age, income, occupation, employment status and stage in life cycle with investment behavior of an individual. Shanmugham (2000) conducted a survey of 201 individual investors to study the information sourcing by investors, their perceptions of various investment strategy dimensions and the factors motivating share investment decisions, and reports that among the various factors, psychological and sociological factors dominated the economic factors in share investment decisions.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY


The research involves only a general study related to the customers satisfaction level towards mutual funds. The study will help the researcher to gain real time experience by interacting with the customers. The study will help the concern to work on the areas of importance for further planning. The study is been done to know the awareness of customers towards different schemes of mutual funds.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY


The specific objectives of the project report on mutual funds are as follows: To understand the satisfaction levels of customers. To understand the buying behavior of the customers. To know the customers preference towards Sundaram mutual funds. To identify the needs of customers towards different mutual funds schemes.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS
When it comes to investments, most of the investors will get confuse whether to invest in equity oriented instruments or debt oriented investments. The one who want to get high return and wants returns should be at least ahead of inflation, it is always recommended to choose equity oriented investments. So, the study has been taken place to study the Mutual funds, which is one of the most recommend equity oriented investment in India.

RESEARCH METHEDOLOGY
1. COLLECTION AND SOURCES OF DATA:

Primary Data It is the data or information obtained from original sources. In this project study the information is obtained from the minds of investors with direct experiences. Primary data can be gathered slowly at a high cost but in offer much greater accuracy and reliability. Secondary data It is the data, which already exists. Someone other than researcher complies it for various purposes not directly related with the research currently under consideration. .
2. TOOLS FOR DATA ANALYSIS

The data will be analyzed by using the statistical tools viz., regression, variance etc and analysis of work will be presented in the form of tables, charts and graphs etc.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY


Study restricted to Bangalore city only. Free, continuous and reliable information wasnt always available. The time span for the survey was short and hence only the major aspects are considered, not all the aspects were considered.

Lack of information could be also being misleading, thus leading to an undesirable impact as a result such information based on decision making.
