SAME STRUGGLES, SAME FIGHT!

The attack on public services continues, as our salaries drop and jobs disappear, even as the profits and benefits of the capitalist 1% grow unstoppably. The cold-blooded murder of young brothers like Ramarley Graham and Trayvon Martin, painfully highlights the lynchmob legacy of this nation of slaveowners. The same racist hatred feeds the persecution of those who come here looking for the jobs that the system itself destroys around the world. Rather than schools and hospitals, they build walls and prisons to divide us. Working women's reproductive rights and intimacy are assaulted by the hypocrisy of those who live off the sweat of others. An insane logic of constant expansion poisons the environment and keeps alive imperialist wars that have thus far claimed the lives of nearly 1.5 million Afghan and Iraqi civilians and 5,500 U.S. Soldiers. All of these attacks on poor and working people have a common denominator: capitalism. It can be different if we fight back.

DARE TO SAY THE S WORD! The only direction we can push this fight that can result in a better world for us and for our children is the direction of workers' power, of all power to all the people: SOCIALISM. What will socialism look like in this country? There is no magic formula, and we have to build the answer together, as we go, but there are general contours we can begin to flesh out through discussion and debate. At the very least, socialism will be the organized, democratic decision-making power of the poor and working class in their workplaces and communities. For this to happen, it must also be a lever to take power away from the 1%. In the short term, we need to identify strategic spaces where we can plant the message that only fighting for socialism can we blaze a trail leading out of the capitalist quagmire.

There are seeds for change, all over the place. But poor and working people can't sit around waiting for a sign from some savior. We need to push the fight as far as it can go in the direction that we want, and when it can't go any further, create our own vehicles of struggle. We must learn to think collectively; to not just occupy public spaces sporadically, but productive spaces that can be held in the long-term and linked to others as we grow.

LAS MISMAS LUCHAS, UN MISMO COMBATE! El saqueo de los servicios pblicos contina, mientras nuestros salarios caen y nuestros empleos desaparecen, an cuando las ganancias y beneficios del 1% capitalista crecen sin parar. El asesinato a sangre fra de hermanos jovenes como Ramarley Graham y Trayvon Martin resalta el legado sangriento de esta nacin de esclavistas. El mismo odio racista alimenta la persecucin de quienes vienen aqu buscando los trabajos que el propio sistema destruye en todo el mundo. En lugar de escuelas y hospitales, construyen muros y crceles para dividirnos. Los derechos reproductivos e intimidad de las mujeres trabajadoras son agredidos por la hipocresa de quienes viven del sudor de otros. Una lgica desquiciada de expansin constante envenena el ambiente y mantiene vivas las guerras imperialistas que hasta hoy han reclamado las vidas de casi 1.5 millones de civiles iraques y afganos y 5,500 soldados estadounidenses. Todos estos ataques contra la gente pobre y trabajadora tienen un denominador comn: el capitalismo. Todo puede ser diferente si lo combatimos. ORGANIZAR PARA COMBATIR, COMBATIR PARA VENCER! Si el combate va a producir cambio real y duradero para la gente pobre y trabajadora, tiene que ser organizado, y ATRVETE A NOMBRARLO! La nica direccin en la cual podemos empujar este combate que puede resultar en un mejor mundo para nosotras y nuestras hijas es en direccin del poder obrero, de todo el poder para todo el pueblo: el SOCIALISMO. Cmo ser el socialismo en ste pas? No hay frmula mgica y tenemos que construir la respuesta juntos, sobre la marcha, pero hay trazos generales a los que podemos dar forma mediante la discusin y el debate. Como mnimo, el socialismo ser el poder decisional organizado y democrtico de la clase pobre y trabajadora en sus lugares de trabajo y comunidades. Para que esto suceda, debe ser tambin una palanca para quitarle poder al 1%. A corto plazo, debemos identificar espacios estratgicos donde combatir para ir abriendo caminos que nos saquen atolladero capitalista.

Estudiantes pujan pa'lante en huelga Universitaria del 2011 en Puerto Rico. desde abajo. Tristemente todas menos un puado de sindicatos y ONGs en Nueva York y en el pas son dirigidas por gente que ganan salarios de ejecutivo y solo se mueven para entregarle votos al Partido Demcrata del 1% capitalista. Las semillas del cambio estn por todas partes. Pero los pobres y trabajadores no podemos quedarnos cruzados de brazos esperando la seal de algn mesas. Tenemos que empujar el combate hasta donde pueda llegar en la direccin que queremos, y cuando ya no pueda avanzar ms, crear nuestros propios vehculos de lucha desde abajo. Debemos aprender a pensar colectivamente; a no solo ocupar espacios pblicos de manera espordica, sino espacios productivos que podamos aguantar a largo plazo y conectar entre s segn crecemos.
