A Song of Praise!

MARRIAGE SUSTAINED

give glory to God for His mercies from January to December last year. I want to tell everyone, especially women, that, no matter where the wind of marriage sweeps you, as long as you are grounded in the Word, the Lord will sustain you. It is even much better if the home you are moving into is governed by the Word of God. The words of Pastor Bimbo Odukoya on marriage are still alive in my marriage because those words are powerful. When your husband makes you feel so angry and you feel like you dont want to see the man again, and you remember her words like, Woman, fight for your marriage, those things keep you going. You are bound to remember that if others are able to remain in their own marriages, you too can make it. We have been married for four years and, in the church where we worship, we have received the Best Couple of the Year award. Who am I? A mere child. I bless God because where marriages of over 20 years have collapsed, mine is still standing. There is one thing I want everyone to know: whatever happens in your marriage, your foundation, who you listen to and who mentors you, matter. I thank God. I am always happy to be at The Fountain of Life Church because it is my foundation. Praise the Lord!

SAVED FROM REPROACH

am thanking God for His steadfast love that never ceases. I thank Him for His faithfulness over my life and for delivering me from shame and reproach. I praise God for Pastor Taiwo and every other Pastor of this church. I came here with a load of problems in my heart and the Lord lifted it off me. I have been believing God for the fruit of the womb since May 2009 when I wedded. I got pregnant the very first month of our wedding but lost it after three months. An evacuation was done and it caused so many issues that resulted in delay for me. I was in Thursday Showers one morning when

I heard the announcement of a forthcoming Fruitful Vine programme in October 2010. My spirit got aroused immediately, so I decided to attend, no matter how busy my day would be. At 5pm that evening, as I was getting ready for the service, I started feeling an unusual pain in my abdomen. About 20 minutes later, I discovered it was my period and the zeal to attend the service was gone. When it was 6pm, the Lord spoke to me strongly and said, Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. The voice kept coming until I became restless and I decided to attend the programme. Towards the end of the service, Pastor Taiwo made an altar call and all who answered were anointed. As soon as I received that anointing, my spirit was lifted and there was peace in my soul. The following month, in November, I missed my period and I was confirmed pregnant by my doctor. Praise the Lord! The pregnancy was completely stress-free. I was looking very strong and beautiful with the pregnancy and the God of The Fountain of Life Church helped me to carry the pregnancy successfully for nine months. On August 9, 2011, labour started as soon as I returned from work and I called on the God of Pastor Taiwo to go with me to the delivery room. I was in labour for 15 hours and nothing happened. Then the doctor took a decision to do a Caesarian section. I started weeping bitterly, but I quickly remembered the promise I picked here when my pregnancy was six months: With God, nothing shall be impossible. I shouted God of impossibilities, come and help me! At the 99th hour, when the nurses were getting their tools ready for the operation, a strong urge to push came and I did. Lo and behold, I pushed out a healthy baby boy that weighed 2.8kg. Tears of joy started flowing from my eyes. The boy was named Emmanuel, Ogheneruona (God did it for me). May all glory be to Jesus forever and ever.

children from the land of bondage, he was obviously an unlikely candidate for the task. After all, his knowledge of military tactics as a prince in Egypt was already lost to forty years of shepherding. But that did not stop God from making him his first choice. Even his decision to answer the call of God, and efforts to bring out his brethren from the land of Egypt, did not meet instantly with the desired results. First, he had to convince his people that he was truly from God. And when he thought he had gained the confidence of his brethren, they murmured against him as Pharaoh tightened his grip on them. Then came the ten plagues with which God wrecked havoc on the land of Egypt. Like everyone else, Moses must have wondered at some point why it was taking God so long to accomplish this task. Finally, the Lord released His joker! He slew all the firstborn of Egypt, and Pharaoh had to practically drive the children of Israel out of the land. Then as they were beginning to rejoice, they came face to face with the Red Sea. Almost everyone blamed Moses, as if the Lord had never done anything for them. Moses must have felt alone, and so cried out to God in desperation. The truth is, one of the greatest miracles in history might never have occurred if the children of Israel did not encounter the Red Sea. They crossed over on dry ground while their enemies perished behind them. So, it must have been an exhausted, but highly elated Moses, that mobilised the children of Israel to sing praises to God after the awesome manifestation of His power at the Red Sea. It did not matter the

challenges they encountered, it was enough that God brought them through. And they were truly grateful to God for everything. Is it not amazing that God cherishes any man who enjoys his favours, without forgetting to come back to show appreciation? Part of the reason He blessed David so much and elevated him was that he always returned with a heart of gratitude to God after every favour. The one out of the ten lepers got an extra blessing because he came back to Jesus to say Thank you. The first quarter of the year has come to an end, and you are among those privileged to be alive. I want you to reflect on the goodness of the Lord in your life. It is true you still have expectations that are not yet met. But can you sing a song of praise to God right now for the victories He has wrought on your behalf? Let that song remain on your lips all through the year. You will be amazed how much God appreciates it. Perhaps you do not have a personal relationship with this God we are talking about. You can get Him involved in your affairs by starting a personal relationship with Him. If you would like to, please pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving up Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ that I might have life. I recognize that I am a sinner. I ask that You forgive my sins. Today, I surrender my life to You. I receive the grace to live to your glory henceforth. In Jesus Mighty Name I pray.

To me, there is nothing else in this world like being in the presence of God, because in the presence of God I get refreshed - chains get broken, liberty surrounds me. It is in Thursday Showers I discovered that while worshiping God, He speaks to me expressly, and when I obey those words that dropped in my spirit man, I make no mistakes. I always look forward to Thursday Showers no matter my assignment, and I also thank God for our daddy-in-the-Lord for obeying the Holy Spirit for this fellowship. My testimony for Showers is Gods divine intervention concerning our accommodation. A sister paid for the accommodation in 2005 without collecting the money back from us!

Seek The Power From Above

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. - Galatians 5:16-18 (NKJV) He went on to illustrate the ability of the Holy Spirit to move us above our limitations and present position by citing the testimonies of Apostle Paul. According to him, Paul himself testified that he was the least of the apostles, having previously persecuted the saints. But when he experienced the power from above, he testified that, although he walked in the flesh, he did not war after the flesh. As Christians, therefore, the scope of our earthly exploits is proportional to our understanding of the personality of the Holy Spirit. For instance, your understanding of the Holy Spirit as the ever present help in time of need gives you confidence of success in whatever endeavour you undertake. According to Pastor Taiwo, the Holy Spirit is always present to help you overcome challenges and obstacles that you will never ordinarily overcome on your own. He reminded the congregation that praying in the Spirit is the greatest weapon against the devil, identifying prayer as the key for overcoming all challenges. He challenged the congregation to pray in the first half hour of every day and see if God would not stand for them all through the day.

his was the scriptural reference used by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, as a background to his brief exhortation at the March 2012 edition of Victoria Island Showers. Speaking on the imperative of drawing power from above, He said that supernatural living is not limited to few individuals, as many erroneously believed, but is open to everybody. However, the distinguishing factor is the individuals understanding of and relationship with God through His Word, he noted. Expatiating further, he affirmed that power comes from the word of God, and this power is what the Christian needs to live a supernatural life. Power is also needful in the fulfillment of believers desires to be above only and not beneath. Whilst referring to the Holy Spirit as the ever-present help in times of need, Pastor Taiwo maintained that the Holy Spirit is the only force that can take any Christian beyond where he or she is presently. According to him, the Holy Spirit is given to us to quicken our body from all infirmity, even death. He is given to us to establish and empower us.
