The scholarships provide opportunities for current and future Filipino leaders to enhance their education, leadership skills and build professional and personal networks by studying in Australia's world-class universities. These scholarships provide opportunities for current and future Filipino leaders to further their education, enhance their leadership skills, and build their professional and personal networks through study in Australia's world-class universities. The Australian Government places a high premium on improving the human capital of the Philippines, as a means of driving economic and social development. These scholarships are a key component of the Australia-Philippines developn~ent cooperation program. They target priority bilateral development areas: basic education, social protection and weIfare, peace and development, public fmancial management, disaster risk reduction and management, climate change adaptation, organisational development, trade, foreign relations, and pandemics. Applicants who demonstrate the most potential to drive development will be considered for the additional prestigious Australian Leadership Award.

In 2013, at least 120 scholarships covering travel, study, and living expenses will be available for Filipinos to pursue post graduate degrees in Australia.
