3. Starting up ASPECT II
ASPECT II has been configured to startup automatically after logging into Windows 2000 and after the ASPECT II Installer performs the setup. When starting up, a dialog box containing [Operator ID] and [Password] will be displayed. Only a person whose Operator ID and Password is authorized will be able to operate the ASPECT II. The following steps explain how to Login to, Logout and Exit from the ASPECT II.

Logging in to the ASPECT II.

Operation After starting Windows 2000 the following dialog box below will be displayed.

Enter a Operator ID and Password, then click on [Login]. Note: The ASPECT II starts with the SE Operator preset. Please, register all other operators in the ASPECT II Operator Maintenance module.

Logging off from the ASPECT II.

When you have finished using the ASPECT II, always Logoff. After Logging off, it will no longer be possible to perform any of the ASPECT II operations, completely preventing anyone other than an authorized operator from accessing the APSECT II. (Even when the ASPECT II is in the Logged off status, it will continue to monitor the parking lot, performing the procedures necessary to keep the parking lot in operation) Operation Right-click on the AMANO icon in the taskbar.

Select [Change Password].

Enter the Operator ID and the Password, then click [Logout].

Exiting from the ASPECT II.

Exiting the ASPECT II, will cease ALL of the parking management functions. Because exiting from the ASPECT II (Server, Polling PCs, etc) will cause any polled information to be lost, it should only be done after the parking lot has closed. Operation Right-click on the AMANO icon in the taskbar.

Left-click on [Exit ASPECTII]. All of the ASPECT II operations will now stop. Depending upon the amount of data being polled from the parking equipment, it may take more or less time to exit from the ASPECT II. Please continue to wait. The computer is finished exiting when the ASPECT II icon disappears from the taskbar.

NOTE: Directly cutting off the power, etc, before the computer finishes exiting from ASPECT II, may cause data to be permanently lost. This will cause the results of the reports, both financial and otherwise, to be incomplete--thus they will not match. It may also cause the ASPECT II to stop working altogether, therefore, please always use caution.

Changing the time on the Clock.

All Adjustments to systems clock are performed by the ASPECT II. When the time on the server is changed, the times of all of the ASPECT II computers connected to the Network, as well as all of the parking equipment, will be synchronized. Operation Right-click on the AMANO icon in the taskbar. Left-click [Adjust Clock].

Change the time, then click [SAVE].

Note: Time synchronization will be performed, automatically, every hour while the ASPECT II is running. (The amount of time to actually be changed depends upon a clocks drift from the correct time) All changes to the clock have a direct effect on parking fees. To limit these effects, please be sure to make all manual changes outside of operational hours, or when the user load is at the lowest point.

Limiting the number of Displayed Irregular Events

The following limits may be set to help eliminate unwanted Event/Irregular Information. It is also possible to make set in more detail the types of Irregular Information you would like to be displayed. Event Information: Troubles with the parking equipment itself fall into this category. For each Event and each Event ID the most recent information is displayed. (For past information please check the Event Log Report) Irregular Information: When a customer makes a mistake while using the parking equipment, or misuses the parking equipment, etc., a log of this action is kept in an Irregular Information log. The maximum amount of Irregular Information logs that may be stored is 999, and/or 1 day (1440 minutes). There may be days when a high volume of Irregular Information occurs. Depending on the scale of the parking lot, it is possible that there may be over 10,000 Irregular Events in one day. In order to display all of this information, it would slow down the efficiency of all of the other processes in the Aspect II. Therefore, if you have a larger parking lot, it is advised to limit the amount of displayable Irregular Events. (To check the history of Irregular Events, please issue an Irregular Report)

Operation (1) (2) (3) (4) Select [Tools]-[Irregular List Setting]. The Irregular List Setting dialog box will be displayed. Click on the check box next to [Limit Number of Irregular Events], and/or [Time Limit of Displayable Data], and enter the maximum number of Irregular Events, and/or the time limit (in minutes). Click on the [OK] button to finish. The settings in this display are valid only for the PC on which they are setup. When using a Network, please setup all of the PCs individually.

Gate Open/Close: This controls the gates connected to a terminal. Because it is possible to cause injury people near the gate and damage to cars passing through the gate, while performing this option, make sure to closely watch a video camera, etc., ensuring that nothing is obstructing the gate. In Service/Out of Service: This command changes a terminal's status between In Service and Out of Service. When a terminal is Out of Service it will cease to function entirely. The terminal will also stop polling, so please be sure to only use this on terminals that are actually out of service. Power ON/Power OFF: Sending the Power OFF command to a terminal will stop all transmission with that terminal. When performing physical maintenance etc., on the equipment, always set the terminal to Power OFF. Otherwise, the Aspect will have no way of knowing that the terminal is not ON. (Should communication continue with a terminal that has its power OFF the overall transmission speed of the entire system will slow down, because the Aspect continues trying to poll the shutdown terminal) Note: This command does not actually turn the Power OFF. Program: The program command sends parameter settings to the terminals. The amount of setting data that is transmitted depends on the type of terminal, but is generally large; thus sending this information to a terminal will effect the overall transmission speed. A large amount of data is sent each time, so please be careful not to send this command repeatedly. Anti-Pass-Back: Use this module to send Anti-Pass-Back information to Terminals, which have Proximity Cards in use <TF-3700, etc.>. A large amount of data is sent each time, so please be careful not to send this command repeatedly. Validity: Use this module to send the Passcard Valid/Invalid information in the Passcard Maintenance and Passcard Status modules to each terminal. A large amount of data is sent each time, so please be careful not to send this command repeatedly. Debit Card Enable/Disable: This command is used to Enable or Disable the use of Debit Cards. Parking equipment that has been sent the Disable command will no longer accept Debit Cards.
