Clean ash from the heat exchanger and flue about every 500 hours of operation as indicated by the hour meter. Tools Needed: 1/2 Socket, 5/16 Socket, 3/4 Open End Wrench, Chimney Brush, Small Pipe Brush, Work Gloves, Dust Mask or Respirator, Large Trash Bag, Box

Unplug the burner

Warning: Turn off power at the circuit

breaker before beginning this service. Wear protective clothing, including gloves and a dust mask or respirator. Allow heater to cool. Disconnect 3/8 copper fuel line where it connects to the burner preheater assembly. Unplug the burner. Remove the 2 nuts from the hinged access door and swing the door open. Use a small wire brush to clean all the metal surfaces of the heat exchanger. Lightly brush the ash off of the hinged door and the burner air tube, taking care not to damage the insulation. You may use a shop vacuum to remove the ash also. Remove back access panel by the removing the nuts. The panel will be have ash buildup on it. Position a box underneath it to catch the ash. Lightly tap the flue and allow the ash to fall into the box. Run a chimney brush into the flue to remove ash buildup. Reattach the back access panel. Swing the hinged door closed. Reinstall the nuts and connect the fuel line. Plug the burner in. Allow 15 minutes for

Boiler Description: Horizontal fire tube boiler constructed of welded, hydrostatically tested, 1/4 inch ASME quality steel boiler plate.
