At a press conference ealier today Jay Bruce and the Reds Community Fund announced plans for Brian Wilson
Field at the Batavia Township Community Center in honor of the longtime scout who signed current Reds players
Bruce, Drew Stubbs, Logan Ondrusek and Sam LeCure...in June 2006 Wilson died of a heart attack at age 33...
next summer the field will become the new home for the the University of Cincinnati Clermont College Cougars and
will serve as the home of the Reds Rookie Success League of Clermont County, a free coed, character-building
summer baseball program for underprivileged kids ages 7-10.
TONIGHT'S GAME: Is Game 1 (0-0) of a 3-game series vs Jason Carr's Cubs and Game 7 (4-2) of a 9-game
homestand that included 2-1 series wins vs the Giants and Astros...following this series the Reds embark on their
second road trip of the season, a 6-game jaunt to National League Central Division rival cities Pit (3g) and Mil (3g)
before returning to Great American Ball Park for a brief 3-game weekend homstand vs the Nationals...the upcoming
road trip begins a stretch during which the Redlegs will play 13-16g on the road (3g at Pit, 3g at Mil, 3g vs Wsh, 2g
at Atl, 2g at NYM, 3g at NYY).
DUSTY BURGER: Across the street from GABP earlier this afternoon, Johnny Rockets president and chief executive
officer John Fuller presented Dusty Baker with a check for $5,000 to benefit the Bilingual Christian Center, a
charitable organization that provides church services, ministries and other Christian-based outreach programs in the
bilingual communities of the Sacramento, CA suburb of Carmichael...the donation represents a portion of the proceeds
of the sales of Dustys Bacon Burger, which can be purchased at the restaurant's Banks location next to the ballpark.
DOT, DOT, DOT....: Tonight marks the second of 5 Kid Glove Games...now in its 64th consecutive season, the Kid
Glove Game program has helped raise more than $300,000 to buy baseball and softball equipment for more than
40,000 kids in the Greater Cincinnati area...fans with tickets for last night's rainout can exchange them for tonight's
contest or for Kid Glove Games on 5/21 vs Atl, 6/5 vs Pit or 6/6 vs Pit.
PITCHING: In the last 10g Reds pitchers are 7-3, 2.73 (89ip, 27er), including 5-2, 3.03 (62.1ip, 21er) by Reds starters
and 2-1, 2.03 (26.2ip, 6er) by Reds relievers...the staff's ERA of 3.53 for April was the lowest team mark for the month
of March/April since 2002, when they went 16-9, 3.43...Aroldis Chapman's 12.1 innings pitched are the most by
any reliever in the Major Leagues who hasn't allowed a run (Det's Duane Below 12.0, Cin's Logan Ondrusek 11.0).
MILESTONES: Scott Rolen's next double will be the 505th of his career, which will tie him with Hall of Famer Tony
Perez for 49th on that all-time list...the immortal Babe Ruth is 48th with 506 doubles...Joey Votto's next home run
while playing 1B will be his 118th, snapping a tie with Sean Casey and moving him alone into fourth place on the
club's all-time list for homers by a first baseman.
THE DRAFT: On June 4, Major League Baseball's first-year player draft will be broadcast live at 7:00 p.m. ET on
MLB Network and MLB.com (pre-draft show begins at 6:00)...the Reds will select 14th, 49th (as compensation for
the loss of Type B free agent Ramon Hernandez to the Rockies), 57th (as compensation for the loss of Type B free
agent Francisco Cordero to the Blue Jays), 78th, 109th and 142nd...the Astros will have the No. 1 overall pick for
the third time in their history (1976, 1992)...per the new Basic Agreement, the draft will have 40 rounds instead of 50.
FIRST VOTTO....: On 4/4 the Reds signed 2010 National League MVP and 2-time All-Star 1B Joey Votto to a 10year contract extension through the 2023 season, with a club option for 2024...Votto had been signed through 2013 as
part of a 3-year contract he received in January 2011, when he avoided arbitration.
....THEN PHILLIPS: On 4/10 the Reds signed All-Star 2B Brandon Phillips to a 6-year contract through the 2017
season...he had been signed through 2012 as part of a 5-year contract he received in February 2008...Phillips is a
2-time National League All-Star who in the last 4 seasons has won 3 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards and a Louisville
Silver Slugger Award...in 2011, he was 1 of only 6 players voted to the All-Star team who also won both Gold Glove
and Silver Slugger awards, and he was rated by field managers as the best defensive second baseman in the NL.
COOPERSTOWN: Former Reds All-Star Barry Larkin and Cubs great Ron Santo will be inducted into the National
