The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Muninarayanappa (Registrar, Karnataka Nursing Council). Chairman, Campus Director, Principal and Vice-Principal of TJCN were also present. From Feb 11 - 12, 2012, T. John College of Pharmacy in association with Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital (CSR Activity) organized a Free Eye Check-up including counseling in the campus. 205 staff including students as well as 74 villagers from Gottigere participated and utilized the services on offer.

John College of Pharmacy visited Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceutical Limited (KAPL), Peenya Industrial Area, Bangalore, on February 9, 2012 First Year students of T. John College of Pharmacy visited Dr. Agarwal Eye hospital on January 20, 2012, where they learned about the anatomy of eye, its various disorders and how to correct disorders. Students also went through eye check up and counseling.

INSTINCTS-12, a technical symposium for students was conducted by the departments of Electronics & Communication and Telecomunication Engg., T. John Institute of Technology in the campus on March 31, 2012. The symposium was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Kris Kammaripalle, Director of Technical Support, VMWare Software India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Kris gave an informative talk on Career Planning and gave the students an insight into how to choose an employer and how to conduct oneself in an organisation. The inauguration ceremony also saw the Guest of Honour, Dr. Mahadevan, Professor
and Head of the Dept. of Computer Science Engineering, AMC College of Engineering advising the students on how to take up research projects which will help in their overall academic development. The technical symposium saw undergraduate and postgraduate students from different engineering colleges in the city participating in events like Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz, Web Designing, Coding and Debugging, Spot Photography, Rubiks Cube and many more.

In the book titled Post Economic Meltdown Era: Challenges & Strategies, edited by Prof. S. K Singh, Prof. H. P Mathur and Dr. Abhijeet Singh, the paper by Dr. Arti Singh got published. It is titled Recession Leading Consumers Buying Behavior to New Landmark.

CHARIOT TO FUTURE
Students from all departments of T. John College participated in the event Chariot to Future which was held to promote entrepreneurship among the youth as a part of NENs All India E-Week celebration on Feb 14, 2012. Students put up stalls on ne handicrafts, snacks, mocktails, mushrooms, specialty dishes and owers. The mission was to sell the items and earn the maximum. The event was inaugurated by Campus Director Wg. Cdr (Rtd.) P Sambasivan. TJC Vice Principal Dr. Nilanjana Basu & Mr. Sunil Sarangi of NEN gave away prizes to the winners.
Languages
International Womens Day was celebrated on March 12, 2012 by Aphrodite (Womens Cell) in T. John College. The event was coordinated by Ms. Shikha Tiwari, coordinator for womens cell. Aphrodite had organized a seminar which was presided over by Chief Guest Ms. Swarnalatha Iyer, Campus Director Mr. P. Sambasivan and Vice Principal Ms. Nilanjana Basu. This seminar was attended by students from various departments of TJC. Ms. Swarnalatha Iyer is currently working as a Senior Project Associate at Centre for Leadership and Management in Public Services (C-LAMPS), where she trains educational functionaries from the Govt. of Karnataka with a view to develop leaders at the grass root level. She is also a member of the Board of Studies at Mount Carmel College and Jyothi Nivas College, Bangalore. Ms. Swarnalatha is also a certied counsellor with special training in marital counseling and child guidance. Ms. Swarnalatha spoke on women related issues and the causes behind it. According to her if women stand up for themselves, be brave and have condence, it can denitely make a change. Canara Bank School of Management). There were 40 delegates from adjoining states who participated in the conference. There were 24 paper presentations which were conducted in parallel sessions during the conference.

IN T. JOHN COLLEGE PARENTS TEACHERS MEET
Parents Teacher Meeting was organized in T. John College on Jan 28, 2012 by Ms. Shikha Tiwari, Dept. of Languages. The meeting was attended by Dr. George Easaw (Principal, TJC), Dr. Nilanjana Basu (Vice Principal, TJC), Ms. Shikha Tiwari (PTA Coordinator), Prof. S. Idzenga (Guest-Faculty from Netherlands), faculty members, parents and students of T. John College. Parent-Teacher meetings are a platform to make a lasting connection with the parent to increase the possibility of academic success for their ward. All points discussed in the meeting were noted by Dr. Nilanjana Basu who will further analyze the scope of improvement on each issue.
Graduation Day was celebrated with great pomp and show on Mar 10, 2012 in T. John College. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research, the Chairman of T. John Group of Institutions Dr. Thomas P John, the Campus Director of T. John Group of Institutions . Wg Cdr (Retd) P Sambasivan and the Vice Principal of T. John College . Dr. Nilanjana Basu along with Heads of Departments and other faculty members. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, followed by the college anthem and an invocation song. The Chief Guest was introduced to the audience and he delivered an inspiring speech. This was followed by the speech of the Chairman and the Campus Director. Students with outstanding academic performance were rewarded. Mr. Ebenezer Breman Veerasingam from VI Sem B.A. (JEP) was awarded the Best Student of the year in T. John College. Prizes for the National Level Football Championship were given to the students by the Chief Guest and the Chairman. All the nal year students were called up on the dais by their respective HODs and given their college leaving certicate.

Literary Festival was held in T. John College from Feb 21 - 25, 2012. It was organized and conducted by the Department of Languages, T. John College. Events such as essay writing competition, poetry writing competition, pick and speak, short story writing competition and painting competition was held for the students during the festival. Certicates were distributed by Dr. Nilanjana Basu to the winners of the literary competition in a ceremony held in TJC on Mar 15, 2012. BA (JEP) students along with Ms. Pooja Basnett attended AKHYANA, Annual Communicative English fest organized by the Dept. of Communicative English of Jyoti Nivas College on Jan 27, 2012. BA (JEP) students along with Ms. Pooja Basnett attended 18th National Journalists Conference & Award Ceremony organized by ICPA (Indian Catholic Press Organization) on Feb 11, 2012 at Vidya Deep College. There were also awards given for the report writing competition on the topic Is Righteous Journalism Fading Away. Alfred from the II Sem BA (JEP) won 2nd prize for this competition. B.A (JEP) students attended a rather interesting conference at St. Claret College in Jallahalli on Feb 29, 2012. They were accompanied by Ms. Mariamma John and Ms. Suraiya Banu. The theme of the seminar was The Space in Between Exploration of the Text and the Worlds. BA (JEP) students along with Ms. Pooja Basnett from the Dept. of Languages participated in a two-day National Seminar organized by the Dept of Sociology, Christ University, Bangalore, from Feb 2-3, 2012. The seminar was on Urbanism in India: Challenges and Strategies. BHM, BBM, BA (JEP) students of TJC & MBA students from TIMS attended a media seminar EXPRESSIONS 2012 on Jan 7, 2012 along with faculty Ms. Pooja Basnett at the Good Shepherd Auditorium, Bangalore. The topic of discussion was Changing Trends in Media. The speakers for the event were Rajdeep Sardesai (Editor in chief, CNN-IBN), R Balki (Chairman, Lowe and Director of Paa), Samar Khan (Head of Television, Red Chillies Entertainment and Director of Shaurya), Pawan Kumar (Director, Lifeu Ishtene) and Sonal Dabral (Regional Executive Creative Director, Asia Pacic Chairman, Bates David Enterprise, India). Humanities Club of the Dept. of Languages, TJC organized a visit to the Holy Spirit Old Age Home on Feb 28, 2012. Students were accompanied by Ms. Mariamma John, Ms. Suriaya Banu and Ms. Pooja Basnett. Mr. Sushovan Chakraborty, PR Account Manager in Integrated Brand-Comm conducted a guest lecture for the II & VI Sem BA (JEP) students on Feb 23, 2012 on Public Relations.
Movie Screening
Bollywood ick Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai which is based on the concept of Euthanasia meaning mercy killing was screened on the Mar 1, 2012 for the students of IV Sem BBM, Section A & B. The movie screening session was conducted by Ms. Panchali Mukherjee.

Sivashanmugham and Training Manager Mr. Ravi Vashisht conducted the group discussion and one on one interview rounds. 6 students were shortlisted for the nal round of interview with the General Manager of the hotel. BBM students of TJC organized ILIUmInAtI 2012 Path to Enlightenment, a management fest on February 17, 2012. Dr. Raju Chandra Shekar was the chief guest for the event. He is a member of UGC, NAAC team and a visiting professor for various management institutions across the country.
National Conference
Department of Biosciences, T. John College, Bangalore conducted a National Seminar on March 9, 2012. The seminar included talks by eminent speakers about various topics of life sciences - the current research trends and applications in the eld of nano biotechnology, solid waste management, molecular medicine and stem cell culture. Students and faculty members from different colleges and institutions participated in the program and interacted with the guests. Dr. A.R Phani from Nano-Ram Technologies delivered a talk on Nano structured materials in Tissue Engineering which was followed by a spot quiz by Biotecnika Group. The session continued with a short informative lecture by Dr. Ronald Ross, Annamalai University on Solid Waste Management. Before the lunch break one more round of spot quiz by Biotecnika was conducted. The afternoon session included talks on recent trends and role of Biotechnology in Molecular Medicine by Dr. Elango from Narayana Hrudayalaya and Stem Cell Culture by Dr. Manoj Mojamdar. Complete video coverage of the seminar was done by Biotecnika Info labs.

National Science Day Program: Students of B.Sc & M.Sc Biotechnology of T. John college won cash prizes in various competitions conducted as a part of National Science Day Celebrations from Feb 26 -28, 2012 at AMC, Bangalore in association with Karnataka Science & Technology Academy (KSTA), Govt. of Karnataka. Students of nal year B.Sc & M.Sc Biotechnology participated in quiz, collage and pencil sketch competitions. Vandana G and Snehal Deshmukh of IV M.Sc won third prize in P.G quiz competition. Among the students of VI B.Sc who participated, Ishita Das won second prize in Pencil Sketch and Anand Shanker- Anupam Dey team won fourth position in the U.G quiz competition. Faculty Development Program on Preservation of Wild life & Forestry: Ms. Sathiya G and Ms. Devika S participated in the FDP organized at AMC college in association with Karnataka Science & Technology Academy (KSTA) on January 30, 2012. National Conference on Frontiers in Biosciences: Ms. Sindhu participated in a conference on Nano Biotechnology from Feb 23-24, 2012 at CMR College. Workshop on Role of Women in Conservation of Ecology: Ms. Rashmi attended a workshop on the Role of Women Entrepreneurs in Ecological Conservation organized at Christ University on February 10, 2012.
The fest had various competitions like B-Plan, Best Manager, Policy Drafting, Trade Wars, Business Quiz and Ad-Master. Students from different management institutions like Alliance Business Academy, PES, Oxford, Jain College, Vijaya College and others participated in the fest. The sponsors of the event were Union Bank of India, Herbalife, Gaming Eazy and many more. In the valedictory programme prizes were distributed to the winners followed by cultural programme put forth by students from Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Uganda.
Results
Results for M.Sc BT II semester exams conducted in June 2011 saw students acquire 100% pass in all the four subjects.

B.Sc (FAD) IV Sem students on Feb 24, 2012 along with faculties Ms. Yashaswini, Ms. Thejaswini and Mr. Rajesh babu participated in a Fashion Competition organized by Dream Zone at Shishakara Bhavana, Bangalore. Colleges across Bangalore participated in the competition which was judged by Kannada lm actor Prem. FAD students with their brilliant collection were adjudged as the winners of the competition and won a cash prize of Rs 15,000

Bangalore University Yoga Competitions
TIMS conducted BU Inter Collegiate Yoga Competitions from Jan 12-13, 2012 at Campus Auditorium. 25 students from various colleges afliated to Bangalore University participated in the competition. Ms. Hema from Little Flower School, Rajajinagar and the winner of World Yoga Championship demonstrated Yoga in the inauguration function which set a high benchmark for the events to follow.

Mr. Chinni Sreedhara was awarded the Best Convener for the Year 2012-13 by RGUHS. Dr. Sriprakash K. S, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of RGUHS rewarded Mr. Chinni during the Annual Physical Education Directors meet at RGUHS Dhanvatri Hall on March 9, 2012.

TJIT hosted VTU Inter Collegiate Bangalore South Zone Table Tennis Tournament from Feb 28-29, 2012. 23 teams in men and 12 teams in women participated in this tournament to vie for the top honors.
