Heavy Duty Fishing Course

Learning Objectives
To understand the limits of wireline slick and braided To become competent at planning and executing fishing operations To become familiar with the range tools for fishing and their operation To gain practical experience of fishing operations in a realistic, safe, environment.

Who should attend

Wireline operators with prior field experience Well Service Supervisors Engineering support staff involved in planning and execution of fishing operations.

Venue : Vause Training Centre, New Plymouth, New Zealand Duration : 5 days (when preceded by Pressure Control Equipment course) Pre-requisites :
Pressure control course (4 days) run week immediately prior to this course Attendance of a slickline operations course recommended.

TTC Slickline Operations Training manual. Classroom presentation images and animations Daily and final examinations

Course Description :
This course is designed for personnel with prior wireline or well service experience who will be planning, supervising or carrying out fishing operations. The range of equipment available for fishing, its design, function and limitations will be discussed in the classroom. Stripping and redressing of these tools will be carried out in a fully equipped workshop, followed by surface operation of the tools in a visible cutaway to fully ensure an understanding of the tools operation. Practical fishing exercises will be carried out in a 1000 ft well containing fluid and gas (water and air) under pressure to create realistic scenarios to enhance the transfer of technology. Each participant gets an opportunity to be the lead operator and plan an operation, conduct toolbox talk and make decisions during their tenure in charge. See overleaf for detailed contents
