5. Locate the supplied electrical jack and remove the black plastic sheath by turning counterclockwise. Slide the sheath onto wires provided with tubing. Attach wires to the screw connectors of jack. Voltmeter Clip
6. 7. 8. 9.
Connect the clips of the voltmeter (as shown on the previous page) to the electrical jack. Plug jack into selected port in the Tri-Lamp Control and reconnect power to the control. Remove the fiber optic lamp from the tubing coupler or swivel connector. Remove handpiece from holder. Press and hold down the delivery unit foot pedal to send signal air to the Tri-Lamp Control. 10. The reading on the voltmeter shows the maximum voltage setting of the channel that is currently connected to signal air. Use the lamp intensity level to set the voltage to the recommended level of the fiber optic lamp. See calibration card or contact the manufacturer. 11. To calibrate the remaining channels, simply move the electrical jack and signal air line to the desired channel and repeat Steps 8-10. 12. Install the fiber optic lamp. 13. Repeat Steps 9-11 for final calibration adjustment. If possible, take voltage reading across the lamp terminals. 14. After calibration, DISCONNECT POWER to the Tri-Lamp Control.
IMPORTANT: Power must be disconnected for calibration to achieve correct settings.
15. After disconnecting power, move jumper from the calibration position (two posts) to operational position (one post). See first illustration. 16. Reconnect power to the Tri-Lamp Control. 17. Remove handpiece from holder and press and hold down the foot pedal. Press lamp intensity level to verify the correct calibration. The minimum setting should always be 2.5 VDC. The fiber optic lamp blinks when maximum voltage is reached. 18. If the maximum voltage is not correct, disconnect power to the Tri-Lamp Control and recalibrate by repeating Steps 4-15.

CLEAN the Optical Surfaces on the Swivel CAUTION: Prior to cleaning, let lamp cool a few minutes, then remove. After cleaning, let lamp dry completely before reinstalling. Every exposed optical surface of the swivel accumulates debris ultimately decreasing the light output. To maintain maximum intensity, clean each surface weekly with an isopropyl alcohol soaked cotton swab. Use firm rubbing motion to remove debris and mineral deposits. See the illustration on the next page denoting the different surfaces to clean. Remove the threaded coupler and rear seal to access the lamp on the StarBright Fiber Optic 6-Line ISO C swivel. Note: All swivels may be sterilized with autoclave or chemiclave process.

Non-Star Tubing Installation and Calibration Note: -Improper calibration may shorten life expectancy of lamp. -Other brand handpiece tubings may be installed on the Tri-Lamp Control, but not on the Quad Lamp Control. WARNING: Only qualified service technicians are to calibrate the lamp control. Tools Required: Utility Knife Phillips Head Screwdriver Voltmeter Follow tubing manufacturers instructions for accessing signal air and connect to a barb of the Tri-Lamp Control. 1. After connecting signal air, verify power is disconnected by either unplugging the power pack or releasing the quick disconnect latch provided on the 12-foot cord. 2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove four screws and cover of the Tri-Lamp Control. 3. In the corner of the PC board, left of the lamp intensity level switch, find the jumper mounted on one of two posts labeled JP6. (This is the normal operational position.) See the next illustration. Jumper hung on 1 of 2 posts

Correction COLORight Tubing: Clogged duckbill valve Duckbill Valve Replacement
COLORight Fiber Optic Tubing - ONLY
WARNING: When replacing Star Dental tubing, the duckbill valve must be installed. Star COLORight Fiber Optic Tubing is assembled with Star Part #60524, Anti-retraction Duckbill Valve, found immediately behind the handpiece coupler in the water spray tube. . If water does not flow from the handpiece coupling end of the tubing, do the following:
1. Check water flow at delivery head. 2. If water is present at delivery head, but not at coupler end of tubing, install a new duckbill valve. 3. Find the duckbill valve in the tubing approximately 2-1/2" behind the handpiece coupler. 4. Grasp tubing on each side of the valve and stretch until the valve is loose.
CAUTION: Use care in stretching tubing to prevent it from tearing.
5. Insert the brass barb of the new duckbill valve in the exposed tube opening toward the lamp assembly. While holding the duckbill valve, stretch the tubing until the silver barb can be inserted into the other exposed tube opening. Push the tubing from both sides of the valve to force the tubing over the full length of each barb.
