WORKSHOP: Wednesday, 27 June, 2012 Pipeline Integrity Management
The pipeline industry in the South Asian region is booming with better regulation and increased competition. Activities like corrosion of pipes, pilferages and sabotage have a negative impact on profit margins of the pipeline operators. Pipeline integrity and safety is an important issue that needs to be tackled head-on by the pipeline industry in the region as a whole.

Why you should attend:

Learn about new initiatives and projects to develop a deep understanding of the South Asian pipeline industry Hear from local and international experts to acquire knowledge of the latest trends and technologies to improve the integrity, safety, security and operation of pipelines Understand regulatory aspects for market competitiveness and land acquisition to ensure you are up to date with industry requirements Gain insights into planning, project management and tactical execution to improve quality and sustainability while optimising operations and costs Meet with senior government officials and energy industry professionals to expand and improve your business connections

By attending this workshop you will: Learn how to develop an Integrity Management Plan (IMP) Identify and locate precursor events that can lead to transport
incidents and mitigate risks related to them

Use regressive traceability to identify suspicious components and their installation and maintenance history Create organised and comprehensive resources for selecting and executing risk mitigation activities Ensure the application of appropriately trained and qualified staff for risk management and enhanced pipeline integrity

ABOUT THE EVENT

Building a safe and integral pipeline network for India
Dear colleague, With the ever growing population and emerging economic spending power of South Asian countries, energy needs are increasingly on the rise. Countries in the Indian sub-continent are progressively looking towards natural gas as a cheap and clean alternative to conventional fuels like coal. Around 200 new cities have been identified for the implementation of City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks by 2015. On average, there is a need for laying 30-40 kms of steel pipelines per city. At present, 16 contracts for CGD are in advanced stages of bidding with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and 16 contracts are in the authorisation stage. IOC plans to lay more than 20 new pipelines by 2015, with an investment of USD 1.5 billion, that will grow its pipeline network from 10,900 km to 15,000 km. Other major projects like Gujarat State Petronet Limiteds Mehsana-Bhatinda-Jammu and Malyavaram-Bhilwada gas pipeline projects will improve the pipeline transport network in India. IQPCs Pipelines India Summit will help define the key issues and benefits associated with the latest oil and gas pipeline technologies and to ensure Indias ability to tackle the rising demand for gas. This dynamic event will address the challenges associated with pipeline integrity management, pipeline safety and security and creating a competitive market to keep oil and gas prices in check. I look forward to meeting you in New Delhi and listening to your views on the Indian pipeline industry.
