OBJECTIVE

1. To familiarize the selections of appropriate tools during the removal and installation of

aircraft generator.
2. To carry out inspection of the aircraft starter/generator.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT 1. Set of sockets 2. Set of wrench 3. Philip and Flat screwdrivers 4. Torque wrench 5. Wire twister 6. Wire cutter 7. Locking wire 8. Metal ruler 9. Step down socket adaptor 10. Masking tape 11. Plastic beg REFERENCE MANUAL 1. HS 125 maintenance manual 2. HS 125 zone area manual PROCEDURE a) GENERATOR REMOVAL 1. Relevant electrical circuit has been isolated 2. Bottom engine cowl has been opened 3. Starter/generator cooling air inlet hose has been disconnected 4. Breather hose from bottom front cowl has been disconnected 5. Bottom cowl has been removed 6. Over heat switch from starter generator has been removed 7. Electrical cables from starter/generator has been disconnected

8. Weight of starter/generator has been supported, clamp ring has been released and starter/generator has been removed. b) GENERATOR INSTALLATION 1. The gearbox extension drive shaft has been ensured lubricated with approved lubricant 2. The starter/generator locating dowel holes in the engine air outlet has been ensured cleaned. Mounting flanges and clamping ring has been cleaned from burr and foreign object. 3. Thread of clamp ring bolt, inside face of clamp ring, generator spline has been lubricated with grease. New O-ring has been lubricated and fixed to generator drive shaft shroud 4. Mounting flange mate has been checked. Generator/starter has been fully engaged with engine gearbox 5. Generator/starter clamp ring has been fit by torque tighten 120 ib.in . Has been loosening turn and retorque 120 ib.in. 6. Electrical cables has been secured and connected to generator/starter 7. Overheat switch has been refitted to generator/starter 8. Bottom front cowl has been refitted 9. Starter/generator air cowling inlet hose has been secured and connected 10. Breather hose has been connected to bottom front cowl 11. All cowl has been closed and secured 12. Relevant electrical circuit has been restored 13. Functional test of starter/generator has been made

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1. Wear proper attire and protective clothing. 2. Do not wear jewelleries
3. Do not horse play in hangar

4. Make sure follow the maintenance manual step by step

DEFECT OBSERVED

1. Starter/Generator casing crack 2. Carbon brush wear CONCLUSION Student has been familiarized with aircraft starter/generator system. Aircraft starter/generator removal and installation have been carried out as per Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
