Shubho Nobo Borsho! Wishing you a happy 1419!!
In this line of work, national and cultural holidays are a great way to spend time learning about culture and more importantly spending quality time with the people G has brought you into contact with. This month both of us got to spend time with some Bengali friends on one such occasion. April 14th was the Bengali New Year. On this day everyone dresses up in red and white and goes to various fairs and celebrations. Haley as well got dressed up in red and white and went to Dhaka University for the days festivities with some friends. Afterwards she was able to meet many people in her friends family at their home. She was able to give them a Bangla tract and briefly talk about what they think about Isa. We are pr*ying this leads to more GoodNews conversations. One of them also, recently had a birthday, and Haley gave her an Injeel. Haley told her that she would love to read it with her sometime. Please pr*y for Haleys friends, N and S, to be pierced by Gs Word and gain an interest in spiritual things. Pr*y N would read the Injeel that was given to her and find truth and hope in J. Ian also was able to meet with his friends on this day and spend quality time with them. His day was spent differently than Haleys; mostly spending time in a friend's home waiting to go out to see the festivities, but nevertheless meaningful. We are both learning that quality time with Bengalis looks a lot different than we are used to. Just being with them, whether or not you are saying or doing anything is quality time to them. In the context of this sitting around with them, stories and different discussions come up. Pr*y that we will be able to steer these convos towards the GoodNews of J and his work on the X and that theyd be open to listen.

News from the school

Some questions that Haleys students wrote to God: Why is God so big? Why is God so good? Why is Jesus so powerful? Why do you love me? Why did Jesus die on the cross? Why is Jesus Gods Son?

Haley has had many great opportunities to see the word of God take root in her students lives. On one such occasion she was sharing the story of Peter healing a crippled beggar from Acts 3, where Peter says, Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. She was explaining to the children how we cant always give money, but we can always give Jesus. Then a student from a Hindu family said desperately, How can we tell Bengali people God loves them if we dont speak Bangla!? So she taught them to say, Isa apnake bhalobashi! (Jesus loves you). She was encouraged to see a 5 year old practically applying the classs bible time to his life. Also, another Hindu student commented this month, I love praising God! We are so excited that Haley gets to teach the Bible to her students and are praying that these seeds would be planted in good soil. In other news, Graces on-going building situations have been resolved. Thanks for your prayers.

Enjoying His World We were blessed to be able to travel to a new area of Bangladesh for a short time during this past month. This was a restful and refreshing break from the usual. However, this served as a great time to experience different aspects of the culture, to try to speak and understand a regional dialect of Bangla, to meet new people, and to see new ways of life here.
