Midlands Charge UMYF 2012

Youth Week Programme (7-13 May 2012)

John 14: 13-14 ...You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name and I will do it...
Wednesday 9 May 2012: Midweek Prayer Bible Study What does praying in Jesus' name mean? How can we both wait for and presently live a joyful life every day? Discuss ways in which our lives as Christians could be lived basing on patiently waiting upon the Lord, and where we can find strength to keep holding on. Look at the personalities in the Bible of the people who benefited from waiting upon God, and how they lived their lives

We are reminded in the Word of God in Psalms 37:4 which says, Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. If we seek happiness in the Lordhappily seeking for His being, His perfections, His friendship and His love, He will grant us the requests we might have, as long as we ask them in His name. We are also told the same in Matthew 7:7 which says "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. Looking at Matthew 7: 9, in our day to day lives- we ask for things from our parents. They do not always give us everything we want, but they will give us what they think is good for us. Likewise, God will not always give us what He sees will not be good for us, because He loves us. To add on, God is even wiser than our earthly parents, so He will kindly grant our needs. However, James 4: 3-4, says When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. This is because of the fact that God knows everything, even what is inside our hearts, and He will always make sure we get what we deserve. He is a faithful and just God.

Saturday 12 May: Charge Youth meeting: own choice topics with Advisors Suggested topic and guideline: As children of God, are we waiting on His promises or we want to have our way?? Read Isaiah 40:31 But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Are we doing all that we can to wait for Gods timing, or we would rather take shortcuts? As youths in the church, as well in the society, how can we distinguish ourselves from the non- believers? Are there any challenges that we are facing in our day to day lives that make us decide to have the shorter way? James 5:7-8 tells us to be patient, just as the farmer waits for the rains, so that his crops bear fruit. That is what God expects of us

Sunday 13 May: Sunday Bible Study Locals choice of topic Suggested topic and guideline: How can we live according to Gods will in todays society? In the world we live today, there are expectations the society has. How do we fit in Gods plan? There are many practices that are being carried out in todays world. How do we, as Christians stand out and live a life that pleases God and at the same time be happy? The practices include witchcraft, idolising celebrities, being victims of peer pressure etc etc. Do we truly believe God can hear our prayers and will answer them in His own time? Basing on John 14:13-14, what are we supposed to do to live our lives happily and following Gods plan for us- the one He promised us in Jeremiah 29 on verse 11.
