Day Wise Schedule Day 0 We board New Delhi Dehradun Express from New Delhi Railway Station at 11:55 pm. We get off the train at Haridwar Railway Station at 4:30 am. Day 1 We travel by road from the station to Silver Sand Camp Shivpuri and reach the camp at 6:30 am which is situated at the lovely silver sand beach near Byasi. Have breakfast at camp and begin with safety briefing. We raft till Shivpuri (ATA- Shivpuri). After this we divide into two groups Rafting1 and Kayaking1. Rafting 1:- Go for cool time. In which we do River Reading and Other team games. Kayaking 1:- Go for kayaking around the camp. We get to practice as in how to paddle a kayak. Day 2

Rafting 1:- Get into rafting gear, and raft down the Ganga. Start rafting from ATA Shivpuri and
ending at Nim. Kayaking 1:- Today we put in our kayaks just where there Bhagirathy meets the Alaknanda from the mighty Ganges at Devprayag. We paddle down 9 kms to the fantastic beach at Beas Ghat., northern Indias most famous fishing spot. Here we camp overnight, relax near a campfire and cook delicious meal. Day 3

Rafting 1:- Start the day from the top. We do the grade 4+ rapid known as The Wall. We
learn the techniques of self-rescue and safety management which includes flip drill and learning how to guide the raft. Kayaking 1:- Today, we kayak 15 kms in the remote part of the upper Ganga gorge till Kaudiyala; we practice our strokes and become more confident of the craft, and handling on the bigger rapids. From Kaudiyala we travel back to Base Camp. In the Evening the two groups exchange. Rafting 1 becomes Kayaking 2 and Kayaking 1 becomes Rafting 2 for the next two days. Day 6 We leave for Sari which is 180 km taking total time of 7-8 hour drive. The road goes along the river Alaknanda before entering the Mandakini valley. Then we trek till Devariyatal (2440m) for 1-2 hours. It's gradual uphill all the way up to the beautiful lake of Devariyatal. We camp at Devariyatal.

Day 7 We start trekking from Devariyatal (2440m) and reach Malaysiri (3000m) which will take around 6 7 hours. The trail goes through the dense forest and stays on the ridge all the way to Tali. From here we descend for a while to cross a stream and then climb to reach Malaysiri, located in an idyllic setting having beautiful meadows and surrounded by dense forests. Day 8 We start the final hike early morning from Malaysiri which is 1.5 km away from the metaled road. We walk on the road for 1.5 kms, and then we start the climb from Chopta (3000m) to Tungnath (3680m) to Chandrashila Top (4130m) which is in total of 5 kms. Tungnath, one of the Shiva temples which is the highest temple in Garhwal and has definitely a certain mystical/religious aspect which is quite based on the spectacular surrounding and views from there. Views which go far beyond the simple "view of mountains". The summit of the Chandrashila peak provides a breathtaking 360 degree view. By the end of the day we reach back to Malaysiri. Day 9 We have an early breakfast and start from Malaysiri to reach the road head and start out journey back to Rishikesh in the bus. Have lunch in the midway. We reach the store where the luggage is, we pack up and we move to Haridwar to catch New Delhi Dehradun Express.

Preparing for the Trip Physical Preparation guide for Double Trouble Expedition This summer you will do rafting and kayaking in Alaknanda and Ganga over 5 days. With a little effort you can prepare yourself physically and be ready to take the challenge! If you follow the recommendations below you will have no problem completing the trip. We expect everybody to show up with a reasonable level of fitness and be ready to raft and kayak. We have charted out a fitness regime for you. Please ensure that you follow it to be in good shape for the expedition. We highly recommend you maintain your fitness levels so that you paddle easily once we hit the rapids! By sport in the regime mentioned below we mean basketball, volleyball or activities that involve exercising of the arms and the hands. This regime is to be followed two weeks prior to the start of the expedition. Visualize yourself on this trip. Think of the fun moments and the tough parts. Imagine not giving up when you are tired and really stretching yourself. Imagine completing the expedition and posing with your kayak for a group photograph. It is an achievement and you can do it! You will do it!

Kit list Please Bring ONLY the items on this list. 6 T-shirts 2 pairs of Sweat shirts (preferably full sleeves) 1 Warm Track pants 2 Track pants / jeans 1 Medium sized towel 2 Pairs of Thermal Wear 1 Cap 1 Pair of Sun Glasses 1 Pair of Woolen Gloves Undergarments (for 8-9 days) Shoes: Right footwear is extremely important. Please ensure that the shoe is comfortable with a sturdy sole that can take rough terrain 3-4 pairs of Socks (1 must be woolen) 1 pair of Floaters 1 Torch (carry extra batteries) Personal Toiletries Kit (include sun screen cream & mosquito repellent) Extra pair of spectacles in case you use them. Any specific medicine if you are undergoing a treatment (please mention in the medical form also) Sleeping bags (upto -5C): Keeping in mind international camping practice, it is recommended that participants carry their own sleeping bags. Though we have enough sleeping bags to provide participants in case they do not carry their own, please note that these are used by other participants and we reissue them after basic cleaning and using a disinfectant spray.

You will not be allowed to proceed on the trek without the following
1 Rain proof jacket / Rain coat 1 Thick warm Jacket (Temperatures on the trek can fall as low as 0C.) 1 Light pull over 1 Woolen cap (should cover the ears)

Do NOT carry iPods (These are distracting, so they become unsafe and no place to charge these!) Mobile Phone Jewellery or other valuables Food items and tuck (you can carry small items to munch on for the travel)

Participant Code of Conduct


Hello, We are very excited to conquer the Kayaking Expedition with you. You will be part of inme Kayaking Expedition Team which means you will have some responsibilities and we have some expectations of you. We want to make sure that you are aware of these responsibilities and expectations. If everybody is on board with these requirements it will be an even better experience for all of us. Please understand that the rules are for you safety and to ensure that everyone on the program has a good time and we succeed. If any of these rules are broken, we will take serious measures that could include you leaving the trip early.

I agree to abide by the following: 1. No alcohol, tobacco, or any other illegal drugs. 2. No exclusive relationships - romantic or otherwise. We will have to work as a team and cliques and romances break down the group bonds. 3. Respecting the space of the other gender - No boys in girls tents; no girls in boys tents. 4. No solo adventures; youll get the opportunity for adventure; it will just involve at least the buddy system, if not whole-group system. 5. No rafting/kayaking without safety gear EVER! 6. I will follow the plan and instructions as shared by the instructors The Teamwork Pact: I know that I am joining a team and I will do everything in my power to make the team as successful as possible. The success of the group is dependent on me and I am dependent on the group. I will bring a positive attitude out of my sleeping bag every morning, and I will never forget to have fun and follow the safety guidelines!
