Eric Patrick Clapton was born in England on March 30, 1945.

The young musician grew up listening to recordings of blues artists from Chicago and of great guitarists of the genre such as BB King and Freddie King. In 1964 he began his fame as a member of The Yardbirds, a group of rock and roll with blues influences. There, Eric quickly became one of the most popular guitarists in the English music scene. However, the musician was strongly committed to the blues, in contradiction with the move towards the pop genre that took the band, so he decided to retire. After several months of practice, Clapton joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. His execution had a great influence on the first album of this group, and inspire a fleeting wave of graffiti that deified him with the slogan "Clapton is God" In 1966 Clapton forms what is known as the first supergroup of rock history: Cream, with bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker. Although they remained together only a couple of years, its influence was enormous, with such familiar topics as Sunshine of Your Love, White Room and Crossroads Classic. The live performances of Cream, with its long improvisations, served as a model for both hard rock groups like progressive rock in the 60's and 70's. After separation of Cream, Clapton formed another supergroup, Blind Faith, Baker again and musician Steve Winwood and Family bassist Rick Greich, which just released an album before their separation, less than a year after formation. After Blind Faith, Clapton focused mainly on his solo career, although other projects integrating over fleeting as Delaney & Bonnie and Derek and the Dominos. With the latter produces one of his biggest hits, Layla (dedicated to Patty Boyd, then wife of his friend George Harrison). Clapton was virtually inactive during 1971 and 1972, due to a serious addiction to drugs. Pete Townshend, guitarist of The Who, helped him overcome it and to organize a comeback concert at the Rainbow Theatre in London in 1973. In the following years Versions of Cocaine and After Midnight, original JJ Cale, and another version of I Shot the Sheriff, Bob Marley, brought him back to success. Clapton's career seemed to weaken in the 80's, despite a successful show at the massive concert Live Aid. The issue of Crossroads in 1988, one of the first packet in the then-new compilation compact disc format, revitalized his career. In 1991 tragedy struck when his son Eric Conor, four years, falling 53 floors of his apartment in New York. In memory, Clapton wrote Tears in Heaven, a song that became a massive success and for which he received six Grammy Awards. In 1996, published a new box set with the title Crossroads 2: Live In The Seventies, which consists of live performances recorded during the 70s and four unpublished study subjects. Clapton also achieved great success this year with the theme Change The World. He also participated in a tribute concert to Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Princes Trust concert in Hyde Park in London.

In 1997 Clapton released the album Pilgrim and in July opened a clinic for the rehabilitation of drug addicts and alcoholics in the Caribbean island of Antigua called Crossroads Center. In 2005 he published both as Back Home Sessions For Robert J and a year after The Road to Escondido with JJ Cale. In 2007, during the celebration of 25 years of his song 'Layla', Eric Clapton released a double CD compilation with 36 tracks with the best of his career. It also published his autobiography, called Clapton: The Autobiography. With over 63 years old, Eric Clapton is still today one of the most important musicians in blues and rock, and a living legend of the guitar.
