Drive up River Street and youll see the concert hall on the right, between the courthouse and the church. A: Thanks very much. Conversation 9 A: Excuse me. Whats the quickest (easiest) way to get to Peters Pet Shop? B: Take the Main Street bus (subway) and get off at First Avenue. Walk up (Walk down) First Avenue and youll see Peters Pet Shop on the right (on the left). A: Thank you very much. B: Youre welcome.

Reading: Harold Never Got There Harold had a very difficult time last night. All the other students in his English class went to a party at their teachers house, but Harold never got there. He followed his teachers directions, but he made one little mistake. From their school, he walked along Main Street to Central Avenue and turned left. He walked up Central Avenue two blocks to the bus stop at the corner, in front of the post office. He took the Central Avenue bus and got off at Fifth Street. He turned left

and walked along Fifth Street three blocks to Park Avenue and turned right. He walked up Park Avenue one block to the bus stop at the corner of Park Avenue and Sixth Street. He took Bus Number 42, but he got off at the wrong stop. He got off at River Road instead of Rolling Road. He turned left and walked along River Road one block. He turned left again and walked two blocks, turned right, and got completely lost. Harold was very upset. He really wanted to go to the party last night, and he cant believe he made such a stupid mistake. Conversation 10 A: Excuse me, could you tell me where the post office (phone booth / train station / downtown / shopping mall) is? B: Sure (Of course / Certainly). If you go down this road (go straight) and turn left at the second intersection (crossroads), youll see it on your right-hand side. A: Is it within walking distance? B: Well, it takes about twenty minutes on foot. A: Id rather take a bus. Which bus should I take? B: You can take bus number 263 or number 270. A: Could you direct me to the bus stop? (taxi) Have the taxi driver let you out in front of the modern art museum. Were in the big gray building right next door. 3. (bus) Were actually only 15 minutes away from the station by bus. Catch number 49 on the south side of the station and get off at Yoyodyne Office Park. Its the sixth stop. 4. (car) Take Highway 1 south and get off on Yoyodyne Parkway.
