Every now and then, poverty, appalling accidents, or someones helpless life are reported.

Though not one and all have a chance to meet these challenging situations, everyone should all try to help any who suffers, or at least, accompany and encourage the sufferer. Helping others can not only support the sufferer when he/shes suffering from a challenging situation but mellow the one who provide assistance as well. Take me for example. I used to take my soundness of mind and body for granted; however, after I meet my friend, Mark in Chiau-Tai High School 4 years ago and saw what fell on him, I totally changed my mind. Mark used to be a sturdy basketball player in our school team; yet, in 2008, he gradually found that his legs were getting swollen and dark, and little by little, he cannot walk anymore. After seeing numerous doctors, having plenty of examinations and treatments, even undergoing several surgery, still no doctor can identify Marks disease and give him an effective treatment. Seeing my friend suffering from such pain, I tried my best to help him. In the days Mark couldnt go to school, I took notes for him and taught him what I learned in school. When Mark was able to attend classes in school, I helped him with his wheelchair, and carried his books or bags. I tried everything I could to help him, and the most important of all; I encouraged and accompanied him when he was depressed and helpless. Though I cannot cure this rare disease Mark got at this young age, the best

thing I could do was to support him in this suffering time so that he can still live with a positive attitude. Meanwhile, I was also inspired by Mark. During the time I accompanied him, I learned to cherish my soundness and have a more optimistic attitude toward life. Also, I became more willing to help others no matter I know him/she or not. Other than my own experience, I also heard many people making efforts to help someone in a challenging situation. Shiu, Chau-Bin, the former visiting staff/ER doctor in Chi-Mei Hospital in Tainan helps not only one person, but 4141 people in Da-Ren Village in Taitung. In June, 2002, seeing people in his hometown have never gotten enough medical resource, Shiu, Chau-Bin decided to give up his well-paid job in Chi-Mei Hospital, and became the only doctor in his hometown, Da-Ren Village. He not only serves as a local health center doctor there, but also became the mutual friend of the villagers. Shiu, Chau-Bin spends most of his time endeavoring to create a better medical environment for the villagers. He improved the local medical treatment level by rebuilding the local health center, applying for more medical instruments from the government, setting up evening clinic and 24-hour emergency service. These new equipment and programs play a pivotal part in ensuring the Da-Ren villagers medical care. Moreover, apart from sitting in the consulting room, Shiu, Chau-Bin also runs mobile medical service. Every morning, he drives his car

traveling from Da-Ren village to Da-Wu village and Tai-Ma-Li village to check his patients health condition, encourage patients with cancer and care for the elder people that live alone. Even when he got a stroke due to overworking at the age of 39, what hung on his mind were still his patients. Scilicet, Shiu, Chau-Bin spends his every minutes worrying, accompanying and taking care of his patients and improving the villagers medical environment. Besides illness and the deficiency of medical resource, another factor that can cause a challenging situation is the lack of money. The only junior baseball team in Ilan, Chung-Daw High School Junior Baseball Team had been suffering from the lack of resource and equipment for several years. They had even encountered crisis of dismissing owning to the insufficiency of fund since it was founded in 2000. Even so, the situation had been improved by some donation of money recently and the major and the most influential donation was from a professional baseball player, Lin, Chen-Hua. Lin, Chen-Hua is an alumnus of Chung-Daw High School. Knowing the difficult situation of the junior baseball team he stayed had been suffering from, Lin, Chen-Hua made a resolution to better the junior baseball team anyhow. Then after a couple of years, this year, 2012, when he was only 24 years old, Lin, Chen-Hua became a professional baseball player in CPBL. By the time he earned his 4-million signing bonus, he decided to donate 10 percent of it to Chung-Daw High School

Junior Baseball Team. Despite the amount of money wasnt huge, the baseball team was very grateful for his donation and the influence was even greater than imagined. Lots of professional baseball players such as Chen, Huan-Yang, Lin, Kuen-Sheng and Lin, Yan-Fen all followed the example of Lin, Chen-Hua and made a donation to Chung-Daw High School Junior Baseball Team. The money they donated provides the junior baseball players equipment such as gloves, gear, balls and bats, etc. with higher quality. It also serves as an essential fund in managing the junior baseball team. Thanks to Lin, Chen-Huas donation, Chung-Daw High School Junior Baseball Team had departed from lacking of resource and fund and is able to play baseball without the worries of insufficient equipment or even the dismission of the baseball team. While suffering from a difficult situation, the best solution is someone else s help. No matter in what way the one helps, the assistance provided usually serves as an important and helpful role for people who suffer from challenging situations. Therefore, nothing is more significant than endeavoring to give a hand to someone in difficulty.
