You must put all factors of repair cost in the estimate. Labour time and parts cost are not enough. The cost of all materials and tools in the workshop are part of the job. Small parts are needed for each job, like hardware. A service facility must be equipped with many tools. If the tools are lost or broken, replacement are needed. Some serviceman work with their own tools. They get the special tools from the service shop. Electricity, air pressure and gas are basic needs in a workshop. Other typical equipment are transport vehicles, hoists and a washer. The storage for fuel, oil, paint and lubricant must be separate. Make a record of all extra work and material use. Write down the cost of telephone use. If you have a service contract, know its content. The costumer gets a bill for work that is not in the contract .

Warranty work must be approved by the factory. The factory or the dealer give the order for warranty work. Warranty is for a new machine or an used one after an overhaul. Work in the dealer shop must be an advantage to the costumer. If the cost is too high, he will do the job in his own workshop. For modifications look for Special Instructions. There also instructions for performance tests. For diagnosis and analysis of failures, use test equipment. This test equipment prevents extra work and time losses. There are service manuals for all standard equipment. Special attachaments need instructions from the factory. Never work with wrong tools that can cause an accident. Oil on the floor can cause you to fall. Good management looks for safety. Good service will result in a reduction of operating cost. Gears can give a reduction in rpm.
