How is today's racism?

Racial equality is such a new concept within our lives that many raw emotions st ill cloud our judgement. Longstanding hatred and hurt feelings eat away at the g ood intentions and bold efforts that the majority of Americans are trying to pro mote. Racial politics have changed since the era of the civil rights movement, w hen the issue of race, at its heart, came down fundamentally to whether whites w ere prepared to accept other races as their equals. The main agenda revolves aro und affirmative action, steps taken by an employer, school, or other institution to expand oppurtunities for blacks, hispanic people, women or other minority gr oups. Racial attacks on non-white immigrants and on Gypsies have become almost c ommonplace in parts of Germany and in the past in England. This form of racism h as been fuelled by economic crisis and by capitalism's need to find a convenient scapegoat for unemployment, housing shortages and every other problem which the current crisis of capitalism has thrown up. Black liberation is inseparable fro m the liberation of the working class as awhole. Marxism has a responsibility to offer a perspective and a way forward for the movement at each stage, explainin g its weaknesses and reinforcing its strengths. Blacks must be challenged to tak e responsibility for their lives. For crying out loud, this is America. Blacks c an join "civil rights" groups and Hispanics can be activists without fear of bei ng branded as bigots and hate mongers. They can agitate openly for racial prefer ences that can come only at the expense of whites. Blacks do a bit of it. Asians do a bit of it. Blacks are still denied bank loans four times as much as white. Ignorant refusal to understand life, which comes from a lack of knowledge and w isdom. Not to mention, it appears as though no one truly wants to understand "Li fe's meaning", because they are afraid of learning. Ignorance seems to be a big cause of racism and parents or peers carry this well to those that they associat e with. I do not expect or even think that the whole world can change their idea s about someone completely, but I would advise parents to be watchful of their t ongue. Culture is not static but rather a dynamic context for social life that a ll people have a right to shape. Multicultural education must distinguish betwee n culture and ethnicity if it is to preserve minorities' ethnic identities while freeing them to participate fully in shaping the culture of society. Cultures a nd races will blend and there's is nothing we can do to stop it. People will alw ays have problems with racism but this trend of culture blending will not stop. Culture is placed on the back burner, when it is just as an intricate structure as the economy or politics. Race has become an institutional part of American so ciety. From the Founding on, race has played an integral part in shaping the Ame rican consciousness. Race has been an issue in North America for many years. Bon illa-Silva classifies the new racial discrimination as color blind racism. Race is far from an issue. If it is atheism(I don t have a problem with them) it is looke d down upon. Since any theory of racial differences has been outlawed, the only possible explanation for black failure is White racism. And since blacks are mar kedly poor, crime-prone, and dissipated, America must be racked with pervasive r acism. Since ancient times, people have been 'categorized' or 'stereotyped', whi ch has made discrimination easier. The root of the problem lies in our physical or cultural differences which involves skin color, language, religion or tribe, hence, the solution too comes from this problem of being different.
