org 612-251-8167 New Season of Minneapolis Walking and Biking Tours Begins Sponsored by Preserve Minneapolis Preserve Minneapolis announces the line-up of the latest season of its popular Walking and Biking Tours of the city's historic places. The tours are not only the best way to experience the citys diverse neighborhoods, but also a means to experience the historic pulse of the city. During the summer of 2012, Preserve Minneapolis will offer twenty-nine unique tours that highlight the natural, built, and cultural treasures found throughout the City. The 2012 schedule runs from May 23rd through September 15th. It will include new tours and highlight unique areas such as the Uptown, Fort Snelling, East Hennepin Avenue, and Lake of the Isles. In June bike tours will offer riders momentous views of several south Minneapolis locations. On each tour, guides with experience in fields like architecture, city planning, and preservation will tell the stories behind the story and give participants a greater understanding of the areas social and built history. These are not stodgy lectures but engaging, intriguing peeks into the city's past and present; the tours recently earned a spot on The Onion AV Club Twin Cities' list of The Ten Best Places to Bring a First Date. Tours typically cost $5 per person. Participants are strongly urged to pre-register online; however, when space allows, we will accept last-minute additions and cash payments at the tour starting points. Most tours will continue, regardless of inclement weather. Several tours cover long distances and some traverse hilly terrain, so some degree of stamina is necessary. Parts of some tours are not ADA accessible.
