FULLY STREAMLINED
The Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 fear no comparison. The design project focused not only on the vehicles aesthetic impact but also on its performance. Its shape is designed to ensure optimum aerodynamic performance. The cab is outstanding for its excellent aerodynamic drag coefficient (one of the best in the category) giving the vehicle optimum performance in terms of noise reduction and fuel consumption. The aerodynamic kit, consisting of sturdy roof spoiler and side deflectors, certainly plays an essential part in achieving these results.

RELIABLE
Iveco engineers conducted targeted studies to improve the cab interior and living space and also worked hard to optimise systems, drivelines and mechanical efficiency. The Stralis underwent a host of tests. More than one million kilometres of functional and ageing tests on demanding tracks. More than one thousand hours on special rigs (e.g. climate-controlled, vibration and ageing chambers) to simulate the entire life span of a vehicle in operation. More than five million kilometres of testing in the field with real customers. More than fourteen thousand hours of functional and reliability tests really put the engines through their paces.

CURSOR 8
The Cursor 8 is available in three power levels 310 bhp with a conventional turbo, 330 and 360 bhp with a VGT. It offers a cylinder capacity of 7790 cc with 6 cylinders in line and is already compliant with Euro 5 Directive emission levels well in advance of the EU deadline set for October 2009. The 310 and 330 bhp Cursor 8 engines available on the Stralis AD and AT are recommended for distribution or municipal applications, while the 360 bhp engine is ideal for tractors and missions requiring maximum payload (for example, tankers and de-mountable bodies) or for vehicles used for short-range transport over relatively undemanding routes.
CURSOR 10
With 10,000 cc capacity with 6 cylinders in line and a VGT, the Cursor 10 is available on the Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 (450bhp only), AT and AD in two power levels that both comply with the Euro 5 Directive on exhaust emissions requirements. The 420 bhp is advised for heavy-duty transport on regional and national routes and for specific applications such as vehicle transport, tanker transport and high volume transport. The 450 bhp version is excellent for national and international routes, flat routes, mixed routes and demanding routes. The variable geometry turbocharger makes a significant contribution to maintaining engine performance at high levels.
CURSOR 13
The Cursor 13, with 500 and 560 bhp is only available on the Stralis AS3 and Super3. It meets the Euro 5 Directive exhaust emission requirements and offers a capacity of 12,880 cc and 6 cylinders in line. The 500 bhp version is ideal for long-range heavy-duty transport over national and international routes and for specific applications such as bulk transport, tankers, high volumes and refrigerated transport. Those who require long-range applications over difficult routes with priority for average commercial speed are advised to opt for the 560 bhp power unit. Both engines are equipped with a VGT that helps keep power unit performance high while improving the performance of the Iveco Turbo Brake (ITB) decompression engine brake.

The SCR system is regulated by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that ensures compliance with regulations even under extreme climatic conditions, without affecting vehicle performance
Reduce Emissions The SCR reduces nitrogen oxides, optimises power unit combustion and reduces fuel consumption and particulate emission Productivity Long engine service intervals and lower overall operating costs: the SCR system increases the productivity of the Stralis
does not require much servicing and helps improve vehicle productivity. This system brings benefits not only for the environment but also for anyone buying a Stralis: more power and more torque for the same cylinder capacity; lower weight; lower fuel consumption due to an increase in injection pressure; less energy uptake for heat dissipation and fewer oil changes for the same mileage.

The automated EuroTronic gearbox is user-friendly with the gear lever built into the steering column
Gearbox range The many types of gearboxes available on the Stralis allow customers to find their ideal solution for every professional need
EuroTronic The gear lever is built into the steering column, while switches on the dashboard can be used to select drive (D), reverse (R) and neutral (N)
34
35
The Allison 3200 automatic gearbox is perfect for missions with frequent stops and starts
BRAKES, AXLES AND REAR AXLES: A SOLUTION FOR EVERY APPLICATION AUTOMATIC GEARBOX FOR THE STRALIS
Iveco also offers an Allison 3200 automatic gearbox on the Stralis AT and AD in addition to the EuroTronic automated gearbox. This gearbox ensures peak drive transmission efficiency for missions with frequent stops and starts, e.g. refuse collection. In this case, the built-in torque converter is a hydraulic clutch not subject to wear that increases engine torque when an rpm difference occurs between the power unit and gearbox. Disc brake The entire Stralis range is equipped with front and rear disc brakes All Stralis vehicles are equipped with front and rear disc brakes controlled electronically by the EBS (Electronic Braking System) control unit that offers ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and EBL (Electronic Brakeforce Limitation) plus an engine brake and Intarder that are activated automatically to minimise service brake wear and ensure that the vehicle decelerates in the best way for the driving conditions. A wide range of rear axle ratios is available for fully-laden missions on motorways and dual carriageways: low numerical ratios are recommended for flat routes with the vehicle under moderate load and less difficult missions in general; high numerical ratios are designed for more demanding applications when traction is a priority as on arduous routes or fully-laden applications. The Arvin Meritor rear axles are designed to meet all the demands of heavy on-road transport. They feature great strength and low maintenance requirements and come in single reduction versions to ensure maximum reliability even on demanding missions. The front axle allows a steering angle of 52: an exclusive advantage for those who work within the distribution sector. 37
