Graduate Student Internship Position Available International Exchange and Study Away Programs

Art Center College of Design is an international center for art and design education located in the hills above the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. We are an independent, nonprofit, four-year college with an 80-year history of educating aspiring artists and designers in a variety of creative fields. Undergraduate degrees are offered in ten disciplines in addition to four graduate programs, currently at an enrollment of approximately 1600 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Admission is highly selective and students apply directly to one major. The College is in session year-round with three entering classes per year. Full information on programs can be found at www.artcenter.edu. We are currently recruiting for an energetic graduate student for a Summer 2012 internship opportunity. This position will be a great training ground for a graduate student preparing for a career in the field of student affairs on international education who wishes to gain hands-on experience. The graduate intern would report directly to the Director of International Exchange and Study Away Programs. There is compensation of $15.25/hour and potential financial support for attendance to a national or local conference (dependant on budget funding availability). Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a masters program in higher education administration, international education, or closely related program Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong focus on cross-office collaborative programming Experience with or knowledge of standards of good practice and code of ethics for study away programs Responsible self-starter who enjoys working with a highly diverse, creative and focused student population Experience with international travel

Projects and Responsibilities

Assist in the development of a Student/Faculty Handbook and Website for Study Away Programs Assist in developing student/faculty policies and procedures Coordinate and co-present at pre-departure orientations and re-entry meetings Assist in student advisement on programs Develop and lead intercultural and diversity campus programs and events Develop marketing and promotion of programs to the campus community

Assist in updating and maintaining department communications including social media, bulletin boards, calendar of events, publications and web site Research study away scholarship opportunities Research program and site specific visa, health, and safety needs Develop student brochures and tools addressing travel preparedness, health, and safety Research and develop a database of international education organizations for program partnerships Liaison with departments and faculty to develop program assessment tools Assist with general office duties such as record keeping, data entry, student billing, and general research Assist with supporting study away faculty leaders
