IMPORTANT: Please read this License carefully before using Rapid Device Analysis hereinafter referred to
as SOFTWARE. The right to use this SOFTWARE is granted only if you agree to the terms of the license.
USE OF THIS SOFTWARE INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF
THE LICENSE AGREEMENT.
In return for the payment of a one-time license fee which was included in the purchase price of the Capella
Technologies SOFTWARE product, you are granted a non-exclusive right to use the SOFTWARE subject to
the following terms and conditions. No title or ownership of the SOFTWARE is conferred with the license.
1. The SOFTWARE may be used without time limit to enable other software products to
access the Capella Technologies SOFTWARE Authentication features.
2. The SOFTWARE may not be disassembled, decompiled, decrypted, or reverse
engineered unless prior written consent is either obtained or not required by law.
Upon request, the user will provide reasonably detailed information regarding any
disassembly, decompilation, decryption, or reverse engineering.
3. This license will automatically terminate upon any transfer of the SOFTWARE or the
Capella Technologies product. Upon transfer, you must deliver both the DIMM,
Compact Flash, or USB product, if applicable, and the SOFTWARE, including any
copies and all related documentation, to the transferee. The transferee must accept
these license terms as a condition to the transfer.
4. We reserve the right to terminate this license upon breach. In the event of
termination, all copies of the SOFTWARE must be returned or, with prior written
consent, a certificate of destruction of all copies may be provided.

.Net Framework 2.0 must be installed on the PC running the deviceanalysis.exe.

Updating Software
Rapid Device Analysis will automatically detect when a newer software version is
available, or you can manually check for an update.
Manual Updates
To manually check for a new version of the Rapid Device Analysis software, go to the
Help menu and select Check for update.

Delete an account
Use the following steps to delete an existing account:
1. Select the name in the Account List, and then click Delete.
2. Click Yes to verify that you want to delete the account.

Settings
Use the Settings tab to configure the parameters for the scanning process, to
configure the parameters for the reporting, and to view license information.
Scan settings
Use the Scan tab to configure settings for Concurrent connections, SNMP,
Multicast DNS, and Locally attached scans. Click Save after you have finished
making changes. Click Default to restore the default settings.

Concurrent connections
Number of connections
The maximum number of devices scanned at the same time.
Time-out (ms)
The number of milliseconds the software will wait for a printer to respond to a TCP/IP
request.
SNMP
Get community name
The name of the SNMP community that the printer belongs to. Enter the correct
community name to gain access to the printer. If a printer has no community name,
the default name is public.
Time-out (ms)
The number of milliseconds the software will wait for a printer to respond to an SNMP
request. The default value is 2000.
SNMP retries
The number of times the software will retry an SNMP request if the initial request fails.
An increase in the number of retries will increase network traffic. Using a lower
number can improve performance. The default value is 2.
Multicast DNS
You will see this section only if iTunes 10 is installed on your system. Click if you want
to use, or not use, Bonjour.
To start or stop the Bonjour Service, perform the following steps:
1. Go to Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, and then open Services.

Locally attached
Fast scan
Quickly scans the network neighborhood for devices locally attached to PCs.
If unchecked, the scan will generate a list of all locally attached devices on all PCs on
the domain controller. The amount of time to complete the scan will depend on the
size of the domain. Larger domains will cause slower scans.
Keywords filter
Filters keywords found in the driver names.
1. Type keywords in the appropriate text box.
2. Click Add to add to the list.
Columns settings
Use the Columns tab to set up additional columns that contain custom device data.
You can create up to 10 additional columns.
Analysis settings
Use the Analysis tab to define the Number of days in a month and year, used to
calculate the page count Analysis intervals. Click Save to save any changes. Click
Default to restore the default values.
Cost settings
Use the Cost tab to define the per-page costs for Mono and Color printing devices.
Click Save to save your changes.

PDF settings
Customize the information displayed in your PDF report. Click Save to save your
changes. Click Default to restore the default settings.
Generate what sub-report pages will be generated in the PDF report. Place
a checkmark next to the name of each sub-report page you want displayed in
the PDF report.
Format
Select the paper size for the PDF report:
Letter
A4
Orientation
Select the page orientation:
Portrait
Landscape
TIP: Use Landscape if the report is a comparison of two scans. This will display the two scan
graphics on the same page for easy comparison.

License settings
The License tab shows the licensing Identification key and Activation key for the
Rapid Device Analysis software.

Scanning devices
When the program is launched, the Scan columns will be shown in the default screen.
Unless you choose to open a previous scan when starting Rapid Device Analysis, the
columns in the default screen will not contain any data.

SNMP discovery
SNMP discovery sends a broadcast over a selected network and discovers what
devices are available.
1. Go to the Scan menu and select SNMP discovery.

Discover devices within a selected range of IP addresses.
1. Go to the Scan menu and select IP range discovery.

Rescan all
1. When a scan is loaded, go to the Scan menu and select Rescan all. This will
collect current data and update all devices using the same scan parameters in
Scan 1 or Scan 2.

Insert a scan
Use the following steps to load information from another scan into the current scan:
1. Click Insert on the File menu.
2. Navigate to the scan file (.das) you wish to insert.
3. Click Open to load the scan file.

Edit menu
Use the Edit menu to edit the data in the selected scan.
Scan data
When a scan is loaded, the columns will be populated with data from the devices in
the scan range.

Cost
The Cost view option will display the total costs of printing, based on the per-page
costs set in the Cost settings tab.
Column
The Column option, when selected, will show any custom columns that have been
added in the Columns settings tab.
Sum/Average
The Sum/Average option calculates the sums and averages for all devices scanned
and displays the calculations below the scan results.

Default
The Default option will remove any other options checked and return the columns to
the default view.
Log
The Log option displays the activity log box at the bottom of the Rapid Device
Analysis window. The activity log shows the timed progress of a selected scan,
including information on the found devices.
Search
Use the Search field to filter scan results.
Device options
Right-click on any device line to display an option menu for that device.
Open printer EWS go to the embedded Web server for the device
Start SNMP walk gather and report SNMP data for the device in a text file
Copy selected rows copy one or more selected rows
Cut selected rows cut one or more selected rows
Paste selected rows paste one or more selected rows
Delete selected rows delete one or more selected rows
Rescan selected rows perform a new scan on one or more selected rows
Go to scan 2 jump to corresponding device line in Scan 1 or Scan 2
Add asset ID add a sequential asset ID for every device in the scan
Remove asset ID remove a sequential asset ID for every device in the
scan
CAUTION: Adding or Removing asset ID will overwrite or remove existing IDs. You will be asked
to verify this action.

Analysis tab
The Analysis tab will display similarities and differences between the two scans
loaded in the Scan 1 and Scan 2 tabs.
Customize view
1. Right-click in any column title to display three view options, allowing you to
customize your view of the analysis results.

Analysis intervals
When the Analysis tab is selected, an Analysis menu becomes available to select
analysis intervals.
Analysis data
The following data will be provided in the Analysis report, depending upon the
Analysis choices:
Days interval between scans number of days between the dates of the
first and second scans

The Stat tab allows you to display statistics based on the selected scan, in text and
graphic formats:

Statistic menu
Use the Statistic menu to customize your view of the statistic data.
Export data
Save and share the important data from your scans by exporting to a CSV or XLS file,
or generating a PDF report.
Export
Export your scan data, Analysis or statistics to a CSV or XLS file. Use Microsoft Excel
to view any exported graphics.
1. Click the File menu. In the Export sub-menu, select one of the two options:

NOTE: Selecting Export will only export information seen on the screen in the currently selected
tab. Therefore, make sure all data and graphics on the screen are correct, then Export to your
preferred file. To export data from the Stat tab to an XLS file, Microsoft Excel must be installed.
