5 MENDEZ CORNET
Expertly designed in collaboration with the internationally known trumpet artist, Rafael Mendez, the M-5 Cornet offers the discriminating player an exceptionally fine musical instrument. The Mendez combines the appearance of a trumpet with the full, rich, timbre of a cornet. A centered valve assembly assures balance and comfort. Lightningfast valve action responds to the most advanced technique. The medium-large bore is complimented by the precision calibrated mouthpipe for the ultimate in tone quality and f lexibility.
lds has been producing a tradition of fine quality musical instruments for more than six decades. From a modest start as a producer of handcrafted, professional quality instruments, F. E. Olds & Son has grown over the years to become a leader in the industry.
ln their efforts to satisfy the discriminating performer, the Olds Company continues to improve and refine their complete line of band instruments. Olds was first to draw its own slide tubing first to use an exceptionally strong, light two-piece brace first to use nickel-silver tubing for slides and first to develop a fluted trombone slide to reduce friction. The special rotary valve self-oiling feature on its French horns and the use of special alloys in bell sections to produce different timbres were also developed by Olds. And, let's not forget that Olds led the industry in equipping student cornets with professional top-sprung valves.

HORN
OIds is pleased to present what is, undoubtedly, the finest flugel horn on the market today! The dark, sonorous tones so desired in a flugel horn are a characteristic of the Olds because of the red-brass bell and bell flare. Not only does this outstanding instrument bridge the tone color gap between cornet and trombone, but it is the standard "double" for the jazz or combo cornet player. Stage bands across the country are using the Olds Flugel Horn for additional versatility and added color. Intonation problems traditional with a flugel horn have been overcome by the most advanced techniques of design. OIds has become the standard of the industry in the production of this unique instrument. -lpecif ications
