Geometry 2.

8 is an application which was designed for math teachers to easily calculate the volume and surface area of common geometric figures. This software is distributed as freeware. I am not responsible for any damage that this program does to your system. I have tested this software on several machines using Windows 95 and higher : however, you are using this at your own risk. I am new to designing software with a graphical user interface. I am sure that this program is not perfect. You may edit the program or provide it to anyone who may find it useful. This software was designed using RealBasic Version 3. I must give special thanks to Joe Fields for his input on some of the source code that was used in the software. I must also thank Leslie Hash for her input in creating algorithms for finding surface area and volume. The logo for Geometry 1.0 was designed by Kelly Strohmeyer. Special Thanks to Mike Wysocki for his input in developing algorithms for metric/standard conversions. I also need to thank Tom Erwin (Author of TrackAddict 1.2) for the source code for using Disclosure Triangles. I also need to thank Phil Richardson for the discovery of mistakes made in the program. Much thanks to my student Hannah Adams. It was rather humiliating when I spelled "polygon" wrong and didn't notice, but she pointed out my error to save me the embarrassment. Thanks again, Hannah. Thanks to Kirt Jones for pointing out an error in the formula for the Trapezoidal Prism. Special thanks to Cariappa Annaiah for his suggestion to add the Command-W command and for linking my URL to the default browser. Great appreciation goes to William Smith whose comprehensive test of Geometry 1.0 uncovered a mistake that was overlooked in calculating the area of a circle. Also, as of Version 1.1 - all use of 22/7 for Pi shall stop. I promise. Thanks for the alternatives. I have to thank Gavin Shapiro for his algorithm for finding the number of diagonals of a regular polygon. Special thanks to BJ for pointing out the ability to enter impossible values for the triangular prism, trapezoidal prism, and rectangular pyramid. Thanks to all of those people who tested Geometry 2.6.2 before it was released to the public. There are both Windows and DOS versions of this Geometry software. If you have any questions about the software or would like to report a bug, send me an e-mail at teast@mac.com. Thanks to all who are dedicated to the teaching of mathematics. You are the greatest. God bless you and enjoy the program. Travis East Technology Education Teacher History of Versions New in Version 2.8.2 Circle window now can calculate radius given only the area or circumference. Fixed version number in the Windows version. Minor interface changes Added a data collection window to: *Help keep track of area and volume

*Allow for copying multiple items into other programs *Provide the sum of the results for volume and surface area New in Version 2.8.1 Interface changes Added Frustum calculation Added Heron's Law to calculate area of triangle given 3 sides New in Version 2.8 Added Rectangular and Polar Translation section Added Dilation section Modified the Rotation section to allow a point around an arbitrary center 3D Distance formula is now in the Coordinate Geometry section New in Version 2.7.1 Fixed problem which caused some users to be receive an Windows Library error. New in Version 2.7 New interface design which allows user to navigate without a mouse Added Reset menu selection to all sections Added Reflection calculation to Coordinate section Added Triangle Solver to the Right Triangle Section Preview icon of each section in the main window All sections which rely on Pi now allow user to choose 22/7 or 3.14 as an alternative New in Version 2.6.4 Several Interface Changes Upon request, added the calculation for the torus. Sine, Cosine, and Tangent are now only in the Trigonometry Section. New in Version 2.6.3 Added Rotation Equation to the trigonometric formula section. Error messages have a description of the problem rather than just "This is impossible" Editfields now reset themselves every time the user hits enter. Law of Sines section now takes into account the obuse case for Angle-Sngle-Side. New in Version 2.6.2 Main Screen new interface which uses popup menus instead of buttons. Added Rectangular Pyramid to 3D Section New Icon Misc. Bug Fixes and Spelling Errors.

New in Version 2.6.1 Changed button on main window to Square Pyramid. Square Pyramid now calculates using the slant height as well as height and width. Added balloon help in certain areas as needed. New in Version 2.6 Minor interface changes and bug fixes. Corrected the formula for surface area on the Trapezoidal Prism Window. Changed all of the metric/standard conversion buttons to a Popup Menus. Corrected some issues with some metric/standard conversions. Corrected a problem with the Rectangular Pyramid Calculation. New in Version 2.5.1 The Calculation Fields are now enabled - allowing data to be copied and pasted into other Applications. Reset buttons now includes every Editfield on the screen. New in Version 2.5 Corrected a problem with the slope formula involving the reduction method. New category on main menu called "Right Triangle Formulas". This includes two new sections for special right triangles....30-60-90 and Isosceles Right Triangles. Added the Midpoint Formula which will solve for the midpoint as well as the other coordinates. New in Version 2.4.4 Did not bother to change the formula for Rectangular Pyramid after I changed the fields in version 2.4.3.....this is now corrected. New in Version 2.4.3 Corrected a problem with the rectangular prism, triangular prism, and rectangular pyramid. Changed the rectangular pyramid fields to include only the height and side. New in Version 2.4.2 Corrected a problem with the negatives and positives displaying correctly in the slope calculation. The slope calculation also reduces automatically now and is much faster. New in Version 2.4.1

Added Slope calculation with a fraction reducer (limited to integers). Add Area of Sectors in the Arcs Section Cleaned up some of the source code in the the calcuations of areas and volumes. Corrected a problem that caused a random NilObject Exception Error when opening the rectangle window. Added reset buttons to all windows containing more than 2 Edit Fields. Replaced Exit Button with Slope Formula button on main page. New in Version 2.4 Added calculations for Sine, Cosine, Tangent, Law of Sines, Law of Cosines and the Pythagorean Theorem. Corrected About Box Version Number Corrected some missing pictures in the Arcs Section and the Regular Polygon Window. Minor Interface Changes New in Version 2.3 Added a section to the main window for Arc Calculations These include : Arc length and Angle and Segment Relationships when Secants and Tangents Intersect a circle. New in Version 2.2.1 Fixed non-functional buttons in the metric-standard conversions for the Regular Polygon. Added a calcuation for the number of diagonals for any regular polygon. Added formulas to the Regular Polygon Window. New in Version 2.2 Replaced the calculation for the regular hexagon to finding the area of any regular polygon.
