Intercontinental Youth Camp 2012 Global Call You, me and everyone Young rebels, warriors, occupiers, resistants, indignants

s and libertarians of the four corners of the world, Once again it's time to get together to talk, share experiences, sing and shout with one voice our athems of freedom and transformation. In a few days, between 24th and 29th January 2012, in parallel to the Thematic Rio+20 Social Forum, the emblematic Intercontinental Youth Camp (IYC) will stand once again. And, most importantly: in its place of creation and birth, Porto Alegre, state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. After several years, we are back where it all began, to reaffirm all our faiths and struggles that have kept the IYC alive and pulsing, as well as the ever-renewed utopia of "another possible world" and that is now urgent. We have in hand, again, the possibility to say this is not the capitalist life and values that young people from different cultures and locations on the planet want. And we count with your energy to strengthen this chorus! Social Context Undoubtedly, much has happened in the last decade, with changes in all aspects of society. The current global context is quite different from that which inspired the creation of the World Social Forum, the Intercontinental Youth Camp and of all movements and organizations that nurtured the arise of these initiatives, thanks to their mobilization ability. Even Porto Alegre, a city that has long served as a global reference of democratic practices and experiences, is no longer the same. This is not a unique situation, for capitalism now staggering on a global level, can drag a significant portion of young people. Maintained without adequate levels of education and limited access to culture, eventually becoming involved in the consumer system fueled by technology. Our Stand In contrast to this alienated and alienating posture, the IYC carries the legacy of all of us who in one way or another, participated in its collective and plural construction over the last decade. The period is of of transformation, changes, challenges, paradigms shifts and,

especially, of growth, of rebellion, social rise up and civil disobedience. The past year of 2011 was undoubtedly one of the most witnessed "social unrest" around the globe, not even the countries with the greatest concentration of wealth and power, such as the U.S. and its European peers were able to remain unscattered. African countries faced social convulsion before its youth organizations and their rage against tyranny. And South America, now largely dominated by pseudo popular and democratic governments, faces the struggle between defenders of the environment and individual freedoms and their opponents: the hunters of the freedom of press, landowners that approve farcical 'environmental codes' and other social crimes. Meanwhile, the popular protests and warnings multiply, such as the Chilean students and Bolivian Indians. In Brazil, decentralized and horizontal street demonstrations, marijuana marches and anticorruption and anti-repression rallies happen in the most diverse range of cities and states. They are anonymous, excluded and invisibles showing their faces. Past inspires the future (or The cycle is renewed) When building the first IYC, far from today, in 2011, we dared to think a "temporary autonomous city with all the principles dreamed for a new society, with techniques that respect the environment, labor solidarity and cooperation. A living space that practices social and environmental justice, and consolidates exchanges of information, knowledge, work, cultural activities and debates, where the communication methods are accessible to all and culture is the essence of the not commercialized and not alienated objection. As in previous editions, which ran the world and multiplied the hope for fairer new days, once again we return to live for a week out of time, a mixture of utopia, rebellion, dreams and reality. It will be during this period that we be able to live truthfull and independent directions we want for our life and our planet, and reaffirm the concrete possibility of a world without wars, tolerance and respect for all differences. This is the setting of the IYC 2012: its about the renewal of the collective dream, the beginning of a new cycle that experiences the last times of capitalism in fall and its seductive but incoherent

tactics of submission, such as the ideas of 'global governance', 'sustainable development' and 'green economy' - the old lies with new more colorful labels. Our tasks, Our role The live strength and intensity of previous camps provides the IYC with enough accumulation in order to channel the ideals and contemporary practices towards a future that are still under construction. It is up to us, young people today, to not let the struggle die, bringing together the different youths in dialog, various forms of social leadership and antagonism, with the intention of practical combat and local, national and global resistence. We therefore propose that the activities of IYC 2012 culminate in the presentation of a youth manifesto against neoliberalism, clarifying sharply our differences and disagreements in respect to the dismantling of education, exploitation in the labor market, lack of access to culture, health, transportation and many other issues that directly affect us in everyday life. We wish also to build an international calendar of mobilization, with a unified actions and campaigns. Starting with the People's Summit and Rio +20! The Earth needs and relies on your willingness to change and transformation strength. It is its only hope! Dont stand as just another viewer, be a YOUNG person of ATTITUDE, in the more intense and in the best sense of the word! Never forget: We, united, are much more than the sum of each one.
