I see many young children attending the meeting today. what behavior does a child display? When a young child sees fascinating toys in the store, He begins to nag his mother for them and the mother buys him one. He is so happy to have that toy and so always plays with it and even sleeps with it. But after a month has passed, he does not know where it is and has no interest in the toy , even if it is broken or dirty or neglected.2 What about adults? When the cell-phone was released for the first time . we were very grateful because it is very useful and helps us in so many ways -w e are so dependant on cell-phones today. we endeavored to protect it even using a film to protect the screen. when dropped by mistake, it was painful. because it meant alot fo us. But after two or three years, we don't have that same kind of attachment. and feel nothing for it even if it gets scratched or dropped. Think about it, why? Is it related to a functional problem? No. so What has changed? It is our mind. our mind is changeable. But there is one thing that must not be changed. What is it? What does it mean to fear the true God? it means an awe and a profound reverence for the Creator and a wholesome dread of displeasing him. it is also related to a strong desire to please him. if we fear the true God, we can act wisely, and make wise decisions. How can we cultivate the fear of God? First we have to flee from the works of the flesh. What is the works of the flesh? Let's see what paul said. Secondly, we have to focus our mind on spiritual things. How can we progress in this respect? If we deeply meditate on God's word, we can develop a sense to fear the true Go d. I encourage all of you to do it not just in the time you have but everyday. D oing so we can strengthen our desire to please Jehovah and our mind to fear him. What benefit can we draw from fearing God? psalm 112:7 psalm 112:7 (Psalm 112:7) He will not be afraid even of bad news. His heart is steadfast, ma de reliant upon Jehovah. There are at least two benefits which we will discuss now.

First, it makes us alive spiritually. Second, we can gain true happiness. Firstly, how can we keep remaining alive spiritually? well, one important way is to pray regularly. A sister living near a Bethel home had to take care of her mother. Because her m other was suffering from diabetes and had become paralyzed. It seems really hard to recover. So as a daughter she willingly began to take care her mother. But in Korea, there is a saying: "A protracted illness wears out filial devotion ." as it takes a long time, this sister had to face many pressures and challenges. she often prayed to Jehovah to give her strength to endure. One day she found a very small old notebook in a drawer. It was an infants diary which contained her story, from her birth to her enteri ng her school years. This sister was so encouraged and realized how her mother loved her and lived for her. After meditating on the great love that her mother has shown to her, she could enjoy taking care of her, and be determined to do he r best to loving her mother. Similarly, the more we know Jehovah and meditate on his works, the more can we t ruly love Jehovah, and please him. Therefore to keep living spiritually, we have to make our prayer regular, and to build confidence and trust in Jehovah. and t hen, we can have strong motive and desire to please him. in other words, we will have a fear of him Secondly, Fear of the true God can brings us happiness. Let's read psalm 112:1

psalm 112:1 (Psalm 112:1) Praise Jah, YOU people! Happy is the man in fear of Jehovah, In wh ose commandments he has taken very much delight.

What does it say about the happy man? 1. the man who fear Jehovah. 2. The man who keep God's commandments. Do you know that our body secretes something when we laugh? They are called end orphins. and they strengthen our immune system. But, did you know that there is something stronger than endorphins? Did you know that when something really reach your heart, your body secretes a h ormone 50 times stronger than the endorphins your body releases. Let me give you hints. this is revealed by many soldiers who fought for their c ountries. many soldiers in the korean war, world war 1 and 2-they show this. What is this? It is loyalty, and it has been said that we can find real happiness and meaning in life when we display it for someone or some cause. Then, our body secrete hormone stronger than anything. When we are loyal,our body secretes the hormone of happiness,which is stronger t hen anything else. In which cases can we display loyalty?

we can do this even in cases that can test our loyalty. Let's read Psalm 97:10 Psalm 97:10 (Psalm 97:10) O YOU lovers of Jehovah, hate what is bad. He is guarding the soul s of his loyal ones; Out of the hand of the wicked ones he delivers them.

Did you notice what it said about the loyal ones? It says they hate what is bad. The Hebrew verb rendered "hate" means disgusting thing and to hate intensely. It is not enough to be apathetic, and neutral about what is bad. we have to thoroughly get rid of what is bad in order to protect o ur mind and emotion. Therefore, you always have to ask yourself and pay attention to what you hear, w hat you see, and what you like, so that you can not allow them to dominate and p enetrate your thinking. why do we have to be loyal in such little things? If we realize how much Jehovah loves us, we would desire to love him and please him more. What is the difference between humans and animals? They are the same in moving and being alive, but one different thing is that the man is created in God's image. Who's inner quality do we have? Jehovah's. we ha ve his quality in mind. For example, love. Where is love? It is in our mind. Wha t image does it have? love has a characteristic. What happen when a man and a wo man love each other. Love contains nostalgia. When they start dating, they see and see again each other even though they met y esterday. They often make long calls. So we know Love contain nostalgia. If we think about nostalgia , we would easily understand Jehovah's standpoint. we remember Korea's Family Reunions. It took fifty years to re-unite with each o ther. It was so touching that everyone was moved to tears. In case of a woman. H er oldest son was in the north, while she was in Kangwon-do. And she waited her son 50 year. Because her firm belief of the son's returning. she never moved to another region and never repaired the house. Why? in case her son could not fin d it. every morning she prepared hot rice to give to her son. Who gives this ki nd of emotion to miss her own son? Yes, Jehovah did. A man named Yearning is If we know , we should Job said to Jehovah that you will have a yearning. related to loyalty to Jehovah. We too have to yearn fer Jehovah God. Jehovh's heart, we should be determined not to displease him. Rather stick to him loyally.

What should God fearing men do? First, he have to pursue peace. Paul urged Christians to do this Let's take a look at 1 Thessalonians 5:13 1 Thessalonians 5:13 (1 Thessalonians 5:13) and to give them more than extraordinary consideration in love because of their work. Be peaceable with one another.

It says be peaceable with one another, and how can we do so? How can we cope wit h emotional troubles in the congregation? Have you ever been to ???? There, I used to go to ?? ?? beach which was entirely covered with smooth pebble s. What makes these beautiful stones gather in this place the way they do? I asked one Geologist, he says millions of years ago. when there were volcanic e

ruption in ?? mountain, it rolled Many stones to be gathered in this beach. During thousands of years th ey were cut and polished by powerful waves and became shiny pebbles. Even if they were not gathered in the beach, stuck on the mountain or entered in to the sea, how could they become pretty pebbles by being cut and polished? Neve r can that do! We can also view our emotional difficulties as an opportunity that God gives us and refine ourselves by building qualities that are beautiful in the eyes of God . Doing so we can complete our personality like a beautiful pebble. What is involved in keeping his commandments? Hebrews13:15 Hebrews13:15 (Hebrews 13:15) Through him let us always offer to God a sacrifice of praise, th at is, the fruit of lips which make public declaration to his name. It includes preaching the good news of the kingdom. What do you feel when you go to field-service in your territory? you might face many difficulties and trouble. How can we make our territory more productive? Have you ever heard of Japanese fish ??? These fish have a unique characteristic. If you raise this fish in a small tank, it grows to 3 centimeters in length, If you raise this fish in an big aquarium it grows to 30 centimeters in length. but if it is raised in a lake or a river, it grows to 1 meters in length. This fish is influenced by its environment. Likewise, our spiritual growth is influenced by what we think. we have to expand our view. There are many people that come from various lands in our territory. If we move our sight we could find that there are still more things to do. Learning foreign languages, moving to where there is a need for more Kingdom pre achers is greater, and improving our way of preaching and teaching can lead us to many new privileges of service from Jehovah God and to put our spiritual gift s to great use. Through the talk today, we ve discussed why we need to fear the true God. In order to cultivate the fear of Jehovah, It is very vital that we avoid works of the flesh, rather, focus on spiritual thing We also learn that fearing God will bring happiness to us. In addition, those fearing Jehovah will keep his commandments. What is one of important commandment? It is to preach kingdom good news. So let us show our zeal when we are doing tha t. A child can get easily tired of a toy after a month or two whether it is very ex pensive. Also in the case of adults, they can easily forget after a year or two , no matt er how expensive, the value of their cellphones. Same can happen to the fear of God. So let us be aware that our hearts can easil y be swept away from that fear. Once we know that it can happen, we must strive to make the godly fear of him de eply rooted in our most inmost part.

If we do, we will have the privilege to fear Jehovah forever with everlasting li fe promised in paradise earth.
