Internet Safety at Work - Read Me

Lost or stolen information can expose company secrets, disclose customer data, or reveal confidential employee information. Youve probably already done a great deal to best protect your companys infrastructure and network, putting software and systems in place to help secure them. Safeguarding your companys information, however, doesnt stop there. It also depends on the commitment, cooperation, and Internet safety know-how of every computer user in your organization. This kit offers some tools that you can use to help your employees learn the skills they need to work more safely on the Internet and better defend company, customer, and their own personal information.

What is in the kit


PowerPoint presentation: Internet Safety at Work Presentation.ppt. Gives practical advice to help employees secure their computers; protect corporate, customer, and personal data; and defend their mobile devices. Usage hints: 20 slides, about 20 minutes. Includes preparation instructions and thorough notes to guide the presenter. Requires no expertise in Internet safety or securing corporate data. Tip card: Top Tips for Internet Safety at Work Card.pdf. Condenses presentation information into a two-sided card. (If you want to print these, see the instructions below.) Usage hints: Perfect for employees to post at their desks. Two sets of printing instructions: one for printing on company printers or at a copy shop, and one for professional printing. Video: Stay Sharp at Work Video.wmv. Presentation information in a visual nutshell. Also available on Microsoft.com/protect. Usage hints: At 3 minutes, if youre short on time, this hits the highlights. Quiz: Test Your Internet Safety IQ Quiz.pdf. Usage hints: Print this with answers on the back or on a separate sheet of paper, depending on how you use the quiz.

How to use this kit


Elements can be used individually or in combination. For the very briefest training, for example, you could watch the video in a team meeting. For a bit more depth and staying power, you might print and distribute the Top Tips for Internet Safety at Work card for employees to post at their desks. Or, you might take this more comprehensive approach: Post the video on a shared team Web site. Then, send the shared link in e-mail as an attention-grabber to announce the presentation event. (Alternatively, you can link directly to the video on Microsoft.com/protect.) Give the quiz before the presentation. Employees could complete it at their desks or at the outset of the event. You can decide when to distribute or recap the answers. Give the presentation, distributing the Top Tips card at the end. After the presentation, send e-mail asking for feedback and attach the quiz (and answers), so employees can check what theyve learned.

How to print Top Tips for Internet Safety at Work


To print on an office printer or at your local copy shop You can print this on two sheets of paper or double-sided. You could also print this double-sided on light card stock for a more durable piece. To print the sheet without trimming: Top Tips for Internet Safety at Work Card.pdf. Print four-color process + satin aqueous coating Paper: White Sterling Dull 100# cover Finished size: 5.75 inches x 8.75 inches Finish: Die-cut round corners and knock out one hole.
