In this issue
Dear customer Advanced Logic Technology has been designing and manufacturing first class imaging tools and acquisition systems for 10 years. We have been active implementing new concepts to enhance our tools and systems. This newsletter informs you about the new features and if you want to get more, let us know.
Rental Pool
We provide an extensive rental pool of logging equipment for those who seek low-cost logging alternatives. A full suite of logging tools is available including : resistivity, induction, natural gamma, deviation , flowmeter, fluid T, conductivity, full wave form sonic, acoustic and optical televiewers, winches, and acquisition systems. Training is available from an experienced ALT engineer as is support for questions that may arise in the field. Call and tell us about your next project.
In development
The ALT hardware R&D team is currently working on a High Pressure/High temperature version of the ABI for the geothermal industry. The tool operation and functionality will be the same as the low temperature ABI (Acoustic Borehole Imager). The tool temperature/pressure rating will be 275c/1400 Bars for 10 hours. The tool OD is 88mm and tool weight around 100kg. The prototype is currently undergoing fieldtesting. Besides this challenging project, we keep working on new products and further enhancements of our current product line. We will keep you updated in the coming months.

5 3D view
he latest generation of ALT acoustic televiewer is a multi-echo system. Downhole real time analysis of the acoustic data is made by a DSP. In casing inspection mode, sophisticated algorithms allow the system to process, separate & classify all subsequent echoes and display real time images of the casing internal radius and rugosity and casing thickness providing an accurate picture of casing condition. The system also records a data processing quality index (score). In the enclosed example, the data were acquired in a 7"- 23lb/ft perforated casing and are presented at a depth scale of 1/20. (azimuthal resolution of 72 pts/trn and vertical sampling rate of 3 mm ).The ABI40 tool was run to locate the perforated area and to identify eventual anomalies on the internal and external walls of the casing string.Actually, in this example, casing walls have been damaged over the perforated interval during the blasting operations.
5 WellCAD document
In the WellCAD document, you may see from left to right Amplitude internal image log is a color coded image of the amplitude of the reflected acoustic signal on the internal wall of the casing. High amplitude values are in yellow, low amplitude values are in dark blue. Amplitude values are unit less. The dark blue low amplitude spots show the perforations where metal loss is observed. Caliper image log is a color coded image of the internal diameter of the casing. Higher values are displayed in red, lower values in blue. Diameter is measured in mm. The caliper log is derived from the travel time of the acoustic signal and from the fluid velocity.
The 3D log is a virtual image combining travel time (caliper component) and the amplitude of the acoustic signal reflected on the inner wall of the casing (amplitude image component). The 3D view shows in detail the casing burst, perforations and cracks. Internal and external radius of the casing Thickness is derived from a complex process using the full wave train of the acoustic signal within the casing. It is
shown as a color coded image of the casing thickness. Lower thickness values are displayed in light blue, higher thickness values in dark blue. The bad data points are colored in red. Thickness unit is in mm. Score image log is the quality index of the processed thickness data. The variations observed on the thickness image log will be validated when reproduced on the score image log.
