54 AROLDIS CHAPMAN, lhp
21g, 4-0-3, 0.00
His fastball is rated by managers the best in the National League...has not allowed an
earned run (21g, 26ip, 7h, 1r, 8bb, 44k)...his 21 apps without an earned run to begin
the season is a franchise record (John Hudek, 18g, 1998)...in his last 4 apps earned
a victory and 3 saves...entered this season with 1 Major League save (7/6/11 at StL,
9-8 win in 13 innings)...has recorded at least 1 strikeout in all 21 apps and 15 times
produced at least 2k...according to Elias, the Major League record for consecutive
relief apps with at least 1 strikeout is 39 by Bruce Sutter for the Cubs in 1977...in the
9-4 loss on 5/17 at NYM suffered a blown save and allowed his rst run of the season
on a hit, 2 walks, an error and a sacrice y...his 19.1 innings pitched heading into that
outing were the most by any reliever in the Major Leagues who hadn't allowed a run...
three times this season pitched on consecutive days (5/16-5/17 at NYM, 5/19-5/20 at
NYY, 5/22-5/23 vs Atl)...only once in his career has he pitched 3 days in a row (9/99/11, 2010)...recorded 18 strikeouts over 10.0 innings before issuing his rst walk of
the season (Joe Mather, 4/22 at Chi).
