Twenty years ago, The University of Notre Dame Australia enrolled its first ever cohort of students: 70 postgraduate

students in Education on the Fremantle Campus.

Today, there are over 10,000 students enrolled in our courses offered over three campuses in Fremantle, Broome and Sydney. On any one day of the University year at Notre Dame, we have students and staff engaged in a variety of activities across the country and overseas. In lecture rooms, laboratories, tutorials, seminars, field trips, practicums, internships, liturgy, sport, reflection, libraries, socialising, acting, volunteering. Because no staged photos or radio scripts can really capture the true and authentic essence of daily life at Notre Dame, we decided it was time that we tried to capture the real Notre Dame: the real people, doing real things on a real day. And so was born, the concept of:

One Day in May Notre Dame 2012.

On Wednesday 30 May 2012, we invite all members of our Notre Dame community to take their own photos or videos of the day and to submit them to us. We want images that capture your Notre Dame day wherever that might be taking place. You will be able to: a) upload your videos at: www.nd.edu.au/onedayinmay; or b) email your photos to: onedayinmay@nd.edu.au; In addition to collecting your images, there will be photographers and videographers recording daily life on all campuses from 7.00am to 7.00pm and time-lapse cameras in some of our open and public spaces. It is our intention to use as much of the true and authentic material we capture for public use. We want to share our stories and our reality with others. Some of this material may be edited into YouTube clips for our website, some of the stills maybe used in our publications and for advertising and recruitment purposes. In undertaking this exercise, we want to make sure that we fully respect the dignity and privacy of all of our community and the community at large. Not everyone likes to have their photo taken, and that must be respected at all times. Furthermore, some people might be anxious or object to having their image used by the University for any of the purposes noted above.

Again, it is our intention to fully respect everyone in the exercise and to that extent we advise as follows: 1. Please read the attached terms and conditions carefully. These apply to all those taking or recording footage, photographs or other recordings and to those on Notre Dame premises on the day. 2. Any student or staff member participating in this project by way of sending in their own photos/ videos or who is on campus on 30th May 2012 will be taken to acknowledge, consent and agree to all terms and conditions. 3. You may be asked to sign a consent form by a University Staff Member or Student who is filming, recording or taking photos (a copy of that consent form is attached). The purpose of this is to ensure that the University has your consent to use your image. This is an exciting opportunity for the real Notre Dame to be captured. We hope that you will be as enthused as we are and join in our
