The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. and is held in cooperation with the United Way of Butler Countys Annual Meeting and the Armstrong Red Apple Award in Education. Leadership Butler County works in partnership with Butler County Community College, Slippery Rock University, Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau and the United Way of Butler County. LBC is an affiliate program of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce. Membership Mixer and Sneak Peak of Is He Dead

eadership Class of 2012 spent their final program session day touring Butler County beginning with the history and tour of Lernerville Raceway. Lunch was hosted at Buffalo Golf Course, where Tracie Williams of Mars National Bank earned the best putt title and was awarded a trophy by owner Ken Waldron. Chris Zeigler bicycled in the rain to give the class the history and current projects of the Butler Freeport Trail. It was off to Saxonburg to visit the Arts Center and Museum before arriving at Armstrong Farms where owner and Leadership Alumna Kathy Allen did a presentation on ecotourism and the diversity of her own business. The director of the Audubon Society at the Succop Conservancy, Mike Bonner, provided a tour and background of their facility and organization. A fitting end to a full day was a cocktail party for close to 90 Chamber Members and Leadership Alumni at the Butler Little Theatre. The special treat was an advance performance of the hilarious comedy Is He Dead by Mark Twain. A special thanks to R.P. he 2012 Butler Rotary Golf Outing will be hosted on Monday, July 30th at the Butler Country Club. Registration is $500 per foursome ($125per golfer), and includes lunch, Unlimited Driving Range Balls, Greens Fees, Cart, Beverages, Refreshments, Dinner, Prizes, Give-A-Ways and more! he Butler County Symphony Associations announces its first Garden Tour on Saturday, June 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a self-guided tour. A reception will be held at Meridian Gift Shop Gazebo, 298 Meridian Road, Butler, 16001. The Garden Tour is a fund-raising event for the Symphony Association. Tickets are $15 pre-sale, and $20 on the day of the tour. They are available after May 1st at: Symphony office, 259 S. Main Street (M-F, 9-2), Butler; Meridian Gift Shop, 298 Meridian Road, Butler; Smiths Florist, 136 N. Main Street, Butler. Also, the Butler County Symphony Association announces its summer Concerts to Munch By series beginning Wednesday, June 6, and continuing until August 22, each Wednesday except for July 4. Country Showdown Competition

he 31st Annual Texaco Country Showdown is coming to Butler! WBUT 1050AM will host Americas largest country music talent search featuring local artists on Saturday, June 9 at Friedmans Freshmarket at their Point Plaza Shopping Center location. A Party in the Parking Lot of Friedmans will kick off the event at 1:00 p.m. featuring fun for the whole family, including concessions, contests, raffles, prizes and giveaways. The Country Showdown will follow at 2:00 p.m. This years contestants are competing for various prizes, including a recording session with Meatlocker Productions and advancement onto the state competition in the fall. BHRA & Butler County Chamber Host Another Successful Forum

The Butler Human Resources Association (BHRA) and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce hosted another successful forum, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Succop Theater, on the campus of Butler County Community College. Close to 100 Human Resource professionals attended the forum which included breakfast and a vendor expo featuring 12 exhibitors, keynote speakers and two breakout sessions. Building a Strategy Capable Organization by Michael Couch, outlined an approach to Strategic Talent Management that describes how business strategy can be translated into talent demands and how to create a strategy-capable organization. Leadership in Your Organization: How are you Doing? by Annamarie Lang, Sr. Consultant and James Court, Project Associate for Development Dimensions International, Inc. engaged participants in an interactive group quiz to see if their organizations talent matches

He then focused on the social media tools best utilized by the HR profession showing that social media allows the HR community to recruit, engage, train and communicate their future, current, and past employees in a fresh and cost effective manner. 18th Annual Ladies Golf Outing Scheduled For August 1

he 18th Annual Ladies Golf Outing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 1, 2012, so dont miss your chance to come out and have a good time! The outing, held at Conley Resort in Butler, includes a round of golf, lunch, beverages, contests, cocktail hour, dinner, prizes and team awards.

10th Anniversary tops 100 Exhibitors Annual Spring Garden Market Welcomed Over 4,000 Visitors!

e discovered the perfect way to ring in spring. The Annual Spring Garden Market & Home Show welcomed an overwhelming crowd of visitors on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at our new location, Alameda Park. Hosted by the Penn State Master Gardeners of Butler County, Butler County Chamber of Commerce and Butler County Parks and Recreation, the event transported guests to a delightful outdoor garden and business expo customized to help them welcome spring! Over 4,000 visitors attended. With just over 100 vendors featuring a wide variety of food, childrens activities, plant sales, landscaping materials, crafts, books, business information and more, this proved to be the largest Garden Market yet. Visitors enjoyed a variety of delicious foods including baked goods, gourmet coffees, biscotti, Friedmans walking tacos, grilled hot dogs & hamburgers and the famous Butler Garden Clubs homemade soups, pies and Mushroom Sandwiches. Master gardeners Julie Dandoy and Justine Brown presented Every Drop Counts, information on using rain barrels, and The Garden Hoe Laura Deeter, PhD, presented how to Garden Smarter, Not Harder.
