Configuration Document is to capture across all the functions of Project System

This document is broadly covering the existing configuration which is being used by JPL in Project System Module Project Profile Project Type User Status Profile Network Profile Network Type Scheduling Parameters Progress Analysis Confirmation Budgeting Investment Profile

2. Project System Settings

2.1 Create Project Profile Use


The project profile contains default values and other control parameters such as the planning method for dates and costs. The data maintained in the project profile will be copied into a project in its project definition or in the WBS elements which can later be overwritten.

2.2 Create Project Type Use


Project type is used as a filtering criterion in the information system The project type does not influence program control or screen selection

2.3 Specify Applicants for WBS Element Use


Applicants can be specified for each WBS element as shown below

2.4 Specify Person Responsible for WBS Element Use


Person in charge of the WBS element can be specified as shown below

2.5 Define Field Selection for WBS Use


In this step, you can make a field selection for the screens of the project definition and the WBS elements.

For the modifiable fields, you use indicators to determine how individual fields are displayed on the screen: Field is ready for input (default setting) Field requires an entry (required entry) Field is only displayed Field is hidden Field is highlighted

2.6 Create Network User Status Profile Use


In this step, network user status profile is created. For infrastructure project, a network user status profile has to be created for every set of events on which a document/sub-component is tracked. If a project is tracked on a set of events which is not configured here, a new user status profile (and a new network type) has to be created for the same. It may be noted that these user statuses have not been configured to control any business transactions If multiple documents have similar statuses in approval cycle, then two different user status profiles are not required

The network type contains information for controlling and managing networks Every network you create must have a network type allocated to it

2.9 Specify Scheduling Parameters Use


In this step, control parameters for scheduling depending on the plant, the type of network and production scheduler are defined

3.0 Define Confirmation Parameters Use


Confirmation parameters are necessary to record actual percentage of completion You can specify the following parameters: When confirming, a final confirmation is automatically propose the dates of the confirmation may lie in the future Percentages for the allowed deviation from work and duration

3.1 Define Checking Control Use


In this menu option, we define the control for the availability check of materials, production resources/tools and capacities

Procedure

Which check rule is to be used and whether a check is to be carried out, is specified depending on plant and network type and the business transaction, for example, whether the check is to take place when creating or releasing a network

The network profile contains default values and parameters for controlling the processing of networks, such as control keys for activities

3.3 Define Field Selection for Network Use


In this step, you can make a field selection for the screens in a network. All screens for which a field selection is possible are grouped together in individual screen groups: Network header Activity overviews Activity detail screens

3.4 Progress Analysis Use


In the following steps you can configure progress analysis For individual project objects, you can calculate a percentage of completion or derive it from information already available in the system. You can summarize these values using the project structure by means of an appropriate weighting factor

3.5 Maintain Progress Version Use


In this step, you maintain the progress version. You define the control data for calculating the percentage of completion and earned value.

3.6 Define Statistical Key Figures Use


In this activity, you stipulate the statistical key figures in which the percentages of completion (PoCs) are recorded. You make the settings per controlling area

3.6 Define Measurement Method as Default Values Use


In this activity, you define the measurement methods for the calculation of the percentage of completion (POC) as default values for the various object types in the Project System

3.7 Create Budget Profile Use


Following are the important parameters that are relevant for project budgeting: Time horizon The number of years in the past from the start year, for which budgeting is possible The number of years in the future from the start year, for which budgeting is possible Budgeting for overall values

3.8 Define Tolerance Limits Use


In this step you enter the tolerance limits for availability control. Availability control can identify budget overruns in a project at an early stage and initiates various actions.

You activate availability control for a certain budget profile. You can specify one or more tolerance limits for each activity group for a budget profile.

3.9 Create Investment Profile Use


The most important control feature from the perspective of Investment Management (IM) is the investment profile. By assigning an investment profile to an order or WBS element, you make it into an investment measure. When you create an investment measure, the investment profile controls the following: Creation of an asset under construction for the investment measure Creation of master data for the depreciation forecast
