Look What Happens When You Paint Your Stucco!
Is painting your stucco with elastomeric smarter?

So, the companies that are promoting painting your stucco with “elastomeric” paint claim painting is Smarter not Harder! Let’s do
the math. These companies say their painting method elongates your repairs, is water proof and permeable (breathes). Elongating
repairs is not fixing the underlying problems - it’s only a temporary band-aid. The elastomeric paint is water resistant and breathable,
therefore it is NOT water proof.
Remember your base (gray looking) coat is the moisture barrier in a stucco system. Your existing cement color coat is designed to
absorb moisture completely through each layer of color to the base coat. When they get wet, the cement color coats need to breathe
quickly. Putting a coat of “elastomeric” paint over them will trap moisture between the elastomeric and the base coat. In time this will
break down your existing cement color coat, deteriorate your base coat and rust out the lathing wire which supports your base coat,
therefore severely compromising your existing stucco system, then having to relath with a new base over your existing stucco system.
So let’s add it up. Save a couple of thousand dollars up front. Elongate, not fix and repair existing problems. Paint your stucco with
“elastomeric”. Trap moisture and severely compromise your stucco system and pay tens of thousands of dollars more later. Does that
sound smarter to you?

etables can make a quick,
easy and delicious meal.
1 medium yellow onion, peeled
and chopped
2 cups purple or green broccoli
florets
2 medium carrots, sliced in rib-
bons
3 bunches baby bok choy, rinsed
and sliced in quarters
6 green onions, cut in half, roots
removed and discarded
2 cups chopped purple cabbage
1/4 pound salmon fillet
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1. In small bowl, combine

rice vinegar, sugar, ginger root,
cornstarch, hoisin and fish
sauce, and red chili paste. Mix
well and set aside to allow fla-
vors to combine.
2. In large wok (or skillet),
heat oil over high heat. Add in
onion, broccoli and carrots. Stir-
fry, stirring constantly, for 3–4
minutes or until vegetables
begin to soften. Add bok choy,
green onions and the cabbage,
stirring constantly. Immediately
place salmon fillet on top of
vegetables. Reduce heat to
medium, cover wok or skillet
and cook for 4–5 minutes or
until salmon flakes when tested
with fork. Flake salmon and stir
into vegetables.
3. Make a well in the center of
the wok or skillet. Stir the vine-
gar mixture and add it into the
wok or skillet. Turn heat to
medium-high and stir-fry for
2–3 minutes until the sauce bub-
bles and thickens. Drizzle with
the sesame oil. Serve immedi-
ately over hot, cooked udon
noodles or rice. Serves 4.
