N01-70025948 Psychiatrist - Child and Adolescent Medical Services Industrial Relations Medical & Dental A Consultant Psychiatrist has unique skills in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment for people with mental disorders. In addition, Psychiatrists help other specialties in SAMSO to treat patients in Medical & Surgical wards, Emergency Division and Primary Care clinics. Psychiatrists offer advice to SAMSO Network Healthcare Hospitals in the districts. 1. Graduate of approved medical school with a valid license to practice medicine. Two years of adult and two years of child/adolescent psychiatric residency program approved by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, or an equivalent certifying body. Certification or eligibility for examination by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology or equivalent qualifications in both general psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry satisfactory to the Vice President. 2. At least 2 years as a full-time Psychiatrist, after training. 3. Fluency in both Arabic and English is required. 4. Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of professional work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization 1. Provides the full range of psychiatric diagnostic and treatment modalities to adult, adolescent and child patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, sharing the workload with the other psychiatrists within the service. 2. If (s)he has completed sub-specialty residency training in child psychiatry, (s)he also provides outpatient and inpatient treatment to children and adolescents. 3. Takes after-hours and weekends calls in rotation with other staff psychiatrists. 4. Responds to consultation requests from other services, received either directly or when on-call, by offering clinical advice or assuming full responsibility for the mental health care of the patient. 5. Contributes to the orientation of other SAMSO physicians, other mental health personnel, social workers, nurses and other Medical Organization personnel in the early detection, recognition, management or referral of psychiatric cases. 6. Participates in the continuing medical education for psysicians and nurses by providing inservice training. Journal Club presentations, presenting cases in ward rounds, and lecturing to SAMSO units upon request. 7. Administers electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) under general anesthesia in the recovery room. 8. Participates in quality improvement programs. 9. Remains current with the professional literature and with CME requirements for licensure.
