Romeo and Juliet Timeline By.

Act 1 Scene 1

A fight erupts between the Capulets and Montagues because Gregory and Samson bite their thumbs at the Montagues.

Ace 1 Scene 2

Capulet walks with Paris and discusses marrying Juliet, Capulets daughter. Capulet explains that Juliet is too young to marry (not even 14) and promises Paris that he may marry her in 2 years.

Act 1 Scene 3

Before the Capulets feast, Lady Capulet, with the nurse, asks Juliet about marrying valiant Paris. Juliet says she has not thought about it and promises to look at Paris at the party to see if she likes him.

Act 1 Scene 4

Romeo and his friends sneak into the Capulets feast with masks on.

Act 1 Scene 5

Romeo meets Juliet at the party. They kiss. Tybalt recognizes Romeos voice and is forced not to harm him by Capulet.

Act 2 Scene 1

Romeo decides that he must try to find Juliet instead of going home. He climbs a wall bordering the Capulet property and finds Juliet. Juliet expresses her love to Romeo without knowing he is there. Romeo speaks up and tells Juliet he loves her.

Act 2 Scene 2

Romeo asks Friar Laurence if he will marry him and Juliet.

Act 2 Scene 3

Mercutio teases the Nurse. Romeo tells the Nurse to have Juliet attend confession which she agrees to do.

Act 2 Scene 4

The Nurse returns to Juliet and tells her Romeos message.

Act 2 Scene 5

Romeo and Friar Laurence wait for Juliet to arrive. Friar Laurence hints how the play will end. Romeo and Juliet are married.

Act 3 Scene 1

Tybalt kills Mercutio under Romeos arm he tries to stop them. To avenge his friends death Romeo kills Tybalt. The Prince banishes Romeo but does not kill him because he did not start the fight.

Act 3 Scene 2

The Nurse explains to Juliet about Romeo killing Tybalt and Tybalt killing Mercutio.

Act 3 Scene 3

Friar Laurence explains to Romeo that banishment is better than death. Romeo leaves for Mantua until it is safe to return to Juliet.

Act 3 Scene 4

Capulet promises Paris he can marry Juliet in 3 days.

Act 3 Scene 5

Lady Capulet explains to Juliet about her fathers decision to have her marry Paris. Juliet refuses to marry him.

Act 4 Scene 1

Juliet goes to Friar Laurence for help with marrying Paris. He proposes a plan which involves Juliet taking a potion the night before the marriage which will make her seem dead for 42 hours.

Act 4 Scene 2

Juliet returns home and apologizes to her father and agrees to marry Paris. She returns to her bedroom.

Act 4 Scene 3

Juliet drinks the potion.

Act 4 Scene 4

Juliets family and friends discover her body and believe she is dead.

Act 4 Scene 5

Juliets family and friends discover her body and believe she is dead.

Act 5 Scene 1

Balthazar sees Juliets funeral and goes to Mantua to tell Romeo. Romeo says he will return to Juliets tomb and kill himself.

Act 5 Scene 2

Friar Laurence sends a letter to Romeo to explain Juliets false death but he is too late.

Act 5 Scene 3

Romeo returns to Juliets tomb to see her for the last time and drinks poison that he bought. Juliet awakes to find Romeo dead and decides to take his dagger and kill herself also.
