INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this engineering specification is to provide designers and vendors with the minimum technical requirements for Determining Electrical Area Classification for use in industrial installations owned by PDVSA. PDVSA has decided to adopt the PIP (Process Industry Practices) documents: ELEHA01 Engineering Guide for Determining Electrical Area Classification as an integral part of the Engineering Design Manual (MID).
