Interleague Play
Major League Baseball's 16th season of interleague play continues at the back end of this homestand with 3-game
series vs the Tigers beginning tomorrow and vs the Indians beginning Tuesday...in May, the Reds went 2-1 in their
first visit to new Yankee Stadium...in addition to this homestand's matchups vs Det and Cle, the Reds will play an
interleague road series at Cle (3g, 6/18-6/20) and a home series vs Min (3g, 6/22-6/24)...all-time vs AL teams, the
Reds are 99-124 (.444), including 2-1 this year and 6-12 in 2011...Cin produced a winning record in 5 of interleague
play's first 15 seasons (9-6 in 1997, 7-6 in 1998, 7-5 in 2003, 9-6 in 2008, 8-7 in 2010)...the Reds' all-time results vs

TONIGHT'S GAME: Is Game 3 (1-1) of a 3-game series vs Jim Trdinich's Pirates and Game 3 (1-1) of a 10-day,
9-game homestand that includes Mon's off day sandwiched between 3-game series vs the American League
Central rival Tigers and Indians.
THIS PLACE IS A ZOO....: Tonight from 5:45 to 6:20 p.m. and again in the first inning the Reds are hosting in the
Fan Zone 13 animals from the Cincinnati Zoo...at 6:37 the animals will participate in a pre-game parade on the
warning track...Thane Maynard, director of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, will serve as tonights honorary
captain, along with an American alligator named Augustine...at the zoo earlier today, Zack Cozart, Chris Heisey
and Mat Latos participated in a question and answer session with kids.
DOT, DOT, DOT....: With his 3-run double in last night's win Ryan Ludwick now has 10rbi with the bases loaded,
tied with Carlos Ruiz for second-most in the National League behind Giancarlo Stanton's 11rbi (courtesy Elias
Sports Bureau)...all standing room only tickets have been sold for Sat's 4:10 p.m. sellout vs the Tigers...single
tickets do remain...plenty of seats still are available for the contests tomorrow (7:10) and Sun (8:06) vs Det.
STREAKING: The Reds have won 12 of their last 17g and in that span turned a 2.5-game deficit into a 3.0-game
lead...Sat's 3.5-game lead was the Reds' biggest since they won the 2010 National League Central by 5.0g over
the Cardinals...the Reds went 9-2-3 in their previous 14 series (2-1 at Chi, 2-1 vs SF, 2-1 vs Hou, 1-1 vs Chi, 2-1 at
Pit, 2-1 at Mil, 1-2 vs Wsh, 1-1 at Atl, 1-1 at NYM, 2-1 at NYY, 4-0 vs Atl, 2-1 vs Col, 1-2 at Pit, 2-1 at Hou).
START ME UP: The through first 55g of the season the Reds have used only 5 starting pitchers (Bronson Arroyo,
Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Mike Leake)...is the Reds' longest such streak to open a season since
1992, when in the 80th game of that schedule (7/6 at Cubs) Keith Brown became the staff's sixth starting pitcher

0.00: According to Elias Sports Bureau, Aroldis Chapman's 24 apps without an earned run to begin the season is
a franchise record and the Major Leagues' longest such streak since Will Ohman began the 2010 campaign with
25 apps before he allowed an earned run...John Hudek had owned the club record since 1998, when he didn't allow
an earned run until his 19th appearance...Chapman's 29.0 innings pitched without allowing an earned run are the
most in the Major Leagues.
WELCOME BACK....: There were 29 home runs hit during the previous homestand (Reds 17, Braves 6, Rockies
6), a new Great American Ball Park record for HR during a homestand of 7 games or fewer and including a singlegame record 9 homers in the finale (Col 5, Cin 4)...according to Elias Sports Bureau, the previous GABP record for
home runs during a homestand of 7g or fewer was 28 (7g from 8/20-8/26, 2007)...Elias said the record for HR during
a single homestand of any length at GABP is 40 (10g, 7/15-7/24, 2005)...on the previous homestand, Reds batters
produced 4, 3, 1, 2, 0, 3 and 4 homers.
COOPERSTOWN: Former Reds All-Star Barry Larkin and Cubs great Ron Santo will be inducted into the National

through the modern player ballot presented by Cincyfavorites.com...the veterans committee selected Driessen and
Reilly...a press conference will be held Sat, 6/23 at 2:30 p.m. in Great American Ball Park's field level interview
room, with the on-field induction ceremony scheduled to begin at 3:30.
