Here is the procedure to upgrade media modules in a G450 via USB memory stick (Avaya documentation a little vague).

1. Download the files you need from Avaya support and transfer these to a memory stick. I copied them straight to the memory stick and didn't put them in a folder (simplifies process). 2. Insert the memory stick into the G450 USB 1 slot, which is physical USBdevice0. 3. From the CLI prompt enter dir usbdevice0, which provides a listing of files on the memory stick. 4. From the CLI prompt enter copy usb module usbdevice0 mm711h30v94.fdl 5, where mm711h30v94 is the appropriate file for the media module your are upgrading and 5 is the slot number it resides in. Enter Y when it asks for confirmation. 5. From the CLI prompt enter show download software status X (X will be provided once you confirm Y in step 4). Once you see Running state: Idle the download process has completed. 6. From the CLI prompt enter show mm X (where X is the media module slot). The media module should reflect the new firmware. Note: I have 711, 712 and 710B. The 711 and 712 modules reflected the new firmware immediately while the 710B modules downloaded to flash and then reset. You'll just have to see how other memory modules react to the process.

Media Module Upgrade CLI Commands for upgrading G450 firmware via a USB device You can use CLI commands to upload an upgrade file from a USB mass storage device to the G450. You must use the specific path to the file on the USB mass storage device. Use the copy usb EW_archive command to upgrade the Java applet for Avaya G450 Manager software from a USB mass storage device Use the copy usb module command, followed by the slot number of the module you want to upgrade, to upgrade the firmware on a media module from a USB mass storage device Use the copy usb SW_imageA command to upgrade the G450 firmware into Bank A from a USB mass storage device Use the copy usb SW_imageB command to upgrade the G450 firmware into Bank B from a USB mass storage device Example upgrade using the CLI via a USB device To upgrade the firmware of an MM712 media module in slot 3 from a USB mass storage device where the upgrade file is located in the directory \temp\, use the following command: copy usb module usb-device0 \temp\mm712v51.fdl 3

Avaya G450 Media Gateway Startup Configuration Backup

Note The Avaya G450 Media Gateway configuration can also be backed up to FTP, TFTP, and SCP servers, however only configuration backup/restore operations to a USB flash drive are covered in these Application Notes.

4.1 Startup Configuration Backup

From the Avaya G450 Media Gateway Command Line Interface (CLI), enter the following commands. 1. Enter the command copy running-config startup-config to insure that any changes to the active configuration are saved. 2. Insert a USB flash drive into a USB slot on the Avaya G450 Media Gateway. A message similar to the following will be displayed depending on the USB device used:
usb device TD CLASSIC 003B (devID 514), compliant to USB standard 2.0, full-speed, bus-powered, connected on product id N/A

Figure 2 USB Drive Detection Message 3. Enter the command show usb all to identify the USB device. The following will be displayed depending on the USB device used. In this example the USB device is usbdevice0.

5. Enter the command show upload status. A successful completion will have the following displayed.
