To ease the handling of the network topology by Cigale GSM solution, it has been decided to add a new configuration file specifically dedicated to describe the BSC under capture. This document aims at explaining in which case and how to use it.
2 In which case?
This information is only valid for Cigale GSM v5.4 rel.7 (Cigale engine 5.4.2.2) and next versions. Adding a new celcig.bsc file is necessary ONLY if specific cellcig.dat file has been configured for Cigale GSM.

3 Installation procedure
3.1 File creation
1. Open standard default celcig.bsc file.
Page: 3 / 5
2. Report All BSCs declared in the celcig.dat file in the BSC description file. (BSC names have to match between the 2 files) 3. Add BSC SS7 point code information (MTP3 layer).

3.4 Cell description file format (celcig.dat)

This file is used when processing record files to name the detected 2G cells (GSM), to designate their BSC and LAC and to fill in their BSIC and BCCH. This file contains also names of the detected 3G cells (UMTS). Description: (File header is mandatory) BSC BTS CI LAC BSIC BCCH BSC : The name of the BSC that the 2G cell is attached to ; BTS : The 2G cell's name ; CI: The 2G cell's identification number. This value must be comprised between 0 and 65535 ; LAC : The 2G cell's location area code. This value must be comprised between 0 and 65535 ; BSIC : The 2G cell's BSIC. This value must be comprised between 0 and 63; BCCH : The 2G cell's BCCH. This value must be comprised between 0 and 1023.
Precision: The CI, LAC, BSIC and BCCH values are indicated as decimals. The BSIC consists of the NCC and BCC codes (3 bits each). The value to be filled in the cell data base file corresponds to the value of the six bits in decimal.
Rule: cell declaration is not free, respecting: File header (mandatory) Separator (tabulation) String data for BSC and BTS Numeric data for CI, LAC, BSIC and BCCH.
Example: Here is a cell description file sample, declaring 5 BTS attached to 2 BSC: BSC BSC1 BSC1 BSC2 BSC2 BSC2 BTS SYRAH MUSCAT TOKAY MERLOT MALBEC CI 701 702 703 704 705 LAC 100 100 100 100 100 BSIC 1 2 3 4 5 BCCH 5 4 3 2 1

3.5 BSC description file format (celcig.bsc)
Description: (File header is mandatory) BSC BSC_PC
Page: 5 / 5
BSC : The name of the BSC that the 2G cell is attached to; BSC_PC : The point code of the BSC ; Rule: cell declaration is not free, respecting: File header (mandatory) Separator (tabulation) String data for BSC. BSC information that must be the same as the one declared in celcig.dat Numeric data for BSC_PC.
