Creating NC Files for shafts and plates.

1 - The NC creation tool is in File CNC NC Files

2 - Choose NC Files and this dialogue box is opened.

Everything is set up for the Australian market so you only need to choose create files for all parts or selected parts. You can also choose just to create shafts or plates. Then click create.

3 - If you go to your model folder you will see that TS has created a folder called CNC files

If you open this folder you will see that TS has separated the NC files into Plates and Shafts.

The shafts are good to go. The plates on the other hand may need to be converted to a .dxf file to suit many plasma machines.

4 - To convert the plate NC files to .dxf follow these instructions. Open the plates folder.

Select all of the plate files and select Edit Copy 5 - We now need to paste these files into a folder in C:\Tekla Structures\13.0\nt\dstv2dxf

6 - Once you have found this folder paste your plate NC files into it. Then double click on the batch file named Tekla_dstv2dxf_metric_conversion.bat. This runs a small converter program and you will see your new .dxf files appear in the open window.

In addition to the previous instructions it is possible to setup your DSTV to DXF conversion program in a separate and independent folder on your computer. This will enable you to browse for the NC1 files you wish to convert. If you wish to set this up please follow these instructions. 1, Create a folder on your desktop (or any other suitable location) on your hard drive. 2, Go to the folder that contains the DSTV to DXF conversion files. This is in C:\Tekla Structures\13.0\nt\dstv2dxf 3, Select the tekla_dstv2dxf_metricconversion.bat; tekla_dstv2dxf_metric.def, and tekla_dstv2dxf.exe files and copy them to your clipboard using Edit Copy. Do Not Use Edit Cut

4, Paste these files into the new folder that you have created. (I have created my new folder on my desktop and called it DSTV to DXF Processor).

5, Right click on the file called tekla_dstv2dxf_metric_conversion.bat and select Edit for the drop down menu that appears.

6, This opens the Batch file editor. Find the word batch in the final line as shown in the picture below.

Change this word to browse as in the picture below.

7. Then click file and save and close the editor. Your conversion program is now ready to use. 8. Using the converter in this location is easy. Double click on the tekla_dstv2dxf_metric_conversion.bat file in your new folder. This will run the program and open a file browser.

9, Use this browser to find the files you wish to convert. You can select as many files as you need in one go.

10, Then click on open. The conversion program then runs. The new DXF files are always created in the new DSTV to DXF converter folder that we have just created. (there is no way to alter the created dxf file destination folder at this time)
