The perfect man - according to a poll of women

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV The perfect man eats meat, drives an Audi and phones his mum twice a week, a poll of women has revealed. The ideal fella also drinks lager or beer, not wine or spirits, and earns a comfortable 48,000 a year whilst being clean shaven and with a smooth chest. He will also be six feet tall, have short dark hair and smart dress sense. However, vegetarians were a no-no, according to the poll of 2,000 women. The study also found the ideal man should also have a degree and hold down a decent job. A demanding 15 per cent said they would insist on a suitor having at least a masters degree or a PHD. But 70 per cent of girls said they would prefer to date a man who earned more than them. The poll also revealed girls dont like their other half to be too deep with 43 per cent preferring their chap to joke around and have a laugh rather than enjoy in-depth conversations. Although 86 per cent of girls want a man who is sensitive, 64 per cent only want him to say I love you when he really means it. A spokesman for Austin Reed, which commissioned the poll, said: It would seem that women have high expectations when it comes to the perfect man. How a man is presented is obviously going to be a huge part of that. Whilst women dont want a man to be too preened, they would like him to be stylish and up to date with current trends. It also nice to see that women favour a smart appearance, as opposed to sportswear. The perfect man.. six feet tall muscly, toned and athletic brown eyes short dark hair smart dress sense a beer / lager drinker non smoker wears smart jeans, shirt and a vneck jumper gets ready in 17 minutes stylish wants a family earns 48,000 a year loves shopping eats meat clean shaven smooth chest watches soaps enjoys watching football drives an Audi educated to degree level jokes around and has a laugh earns more than you sensitive when you are upset tells you he loves you only when he means it admits it when he looks at other women holds a driving licence can swim can ride a bike can change a tyre rings mum regularly

PDSA Pet Fit Club: Fat cats, overweight dogs and podgy rabbits
SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV It's that time of year again, animal charity PDSA has announced the line-up of pet finalists in its annual slimming competition Pet Fit Club.

Trees can suffer jetlag, researchers discover

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV While some scientists were busy trying to cure cancer, others were apparently more preoccupied by the question 'Can trees suffer jetlag?" Researchers say that the internal biological clock that gets altered in humans when travelling across time zones, leading to jetlag also applies to trees. But it's not a wast of time, the team from the University of Western Sydney say their findings could be useful in an era of tackling climate change. Dr Vctor Resco de Dios said: "If you could move a whole forest from Sydney to Barcelona all of the trees in fact the whole ecosystem would likely have the plant equivalent of jetlag. "The research results provide a much better understanding of ecosystem function and its capacity to store carbon which is essential in an era of climate change and carbon accounting."

This year the overweight animal contestants include 11 dogs, 5 cats and 2 rabbits who are currently carrying a combined excess weight of over 24 stone. And the 18 finalists include a custard cream loving dog called Alfie; a 10.2kg Scottish cat called Maverick who is 85% overweight. There is also food thief, Deco - a canine who likes cake but is carrying 57% extra body weight; Romeo the Labrador who has a penchant for roast dinners who is 47% overweight. All of the finalists are obese or morbidly obese and desperately need to lose weight to improve their quality of life. PDSA vets are guiding the owners of each of these supersized pets on their journey to slim down and shape-up with a balanced diet and tailored exercise plan. Sean Wensley, PDSA Senior Veterinary Surgeon, said: Excess pounds can contribute to a number of serious health conditions and, sadly, it does reduce life expectancy. But the good news is that its never too late to make positive changes to a pets diet and lifestyle.

999 crews rush to model train accident

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV Two ambulance crews and a police car rushed to the scene of a model train accident after reportedly mishearing a 999 call. It's claimed the 999 teams turned up at Canvey Island, Essex thinking they were attending a military railway not a miniature railway. Staff at Canvey Railway had called for an ambulance after three passengers fell from the model train and suffered minor injuries. But the train enthusiasts were shocked when the police and ambulance turned up to deal with the minor situation. A spokesman for the attraction told the Telegraph: "The emergency crews said they thought they had been called to a military railway, which is why there was such a big response."

Driver crashes 85,000 Ferrari to save hedgehog

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV A businessman has reportedly crashed his beloved Ferrari Testarossa and caused 30,000 worth of damage by swerving to miss a hedgehog. Joerg Daecher was travelling home from work at Eschershausen in Germany when he spotted the creature and tried to drive around it. Unfortunately -- thanks to leaves on the road -- he lost control of the sports-car and crashed into a barrier after he spun out of control. It has been estimated that damage to the car could cost 35,000 to repair. On a more positive note, it's understood that the hedgehog managed to escape the accident uninjured which we're sure makes Joerg feel better.

The overall winner of the competition will receive a pet-friendly holiday worth 500 with the Four Seasons hotel in Perthshire.

Miniature pig racing a hit at Pennywell Farm

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV Because we think any day only gets better with the addition of racing miniature pig -- here's some little porkers doing their think at Pennywell Farm. Bosses there say that it took months of planning the course and training the pigs, but that it was all worth it because miniature pig racing has been a massive hit with visitors. With obstacles like Bacons Brook and the Trough to contend with the pint sized porkers have to be at the peak of their physical fitness and on sizzling good form and it was 9 month old Red Runt who triumphed in the first race. Pennywells owner Chris Murray says: "The pigs have been hamming it up, the visitors have been all out in supporting them and its odds on we have a classic activity in the making." The Pennywell Miniature pigs have been specially bred since 1992 to be small and friendly. Each pig is unique with its own colour and markings. The average piglet weighs just 250g (8oz) at birth. They grow to about a fifth of the size of an ordinary piglet (approximately the size of a Springer Spaniel at maturity).

LA shelter hopes cats' iPad art draws in donations

SOURCE: ODDNEWS.ORG A Los Angeles animal shelter that lets its cats chase toys on top of iPads hope the digital art created by the movement will encourage donations of money and tablet computers. An Animal Planet crew visited the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles for the April 14 episode of "Must Love Cats," where they documented how four cats used an app called Paint for Cats. The results were so compelling that the shelter turned them into notecards. The cards with drawings named "Study in Feather Toys" and "Movement in Catnip" are being sold online for $5.99 a pack. Shelter president Madeline Bernstein says the cats had so much fun, they put used iPads on their wish list so other cats can paint, too.

De Hooi
Hi people,

Issue#56

A little over a month ago my nipple started being hard all the time. I didnt think much of it as much as everybody tweaks the things. Then I noticed a lump forming under it and still didnt really think anything of it. Then I had an excuse to have people check out my nipple and that was fun for a while but then the lump got even bigger and we all started getting worried about it and decided after a month it was probably about time I go to the doctor and have it checked out. Well, going to the doctor isnt my favorite thing to do as I havent always taken the best care of myself over the years, but at times I try. Regardless I went over to Pondok Indah Hospital, not to name any names, and went in the front doors there and started looking around for the information desk. Maybe I missed it but I couldnt find an information desk anywhere. So I figured there must be someone in Emergency who could direct me where to go. So I strolled over there and found a desk outside of the Emergency room and asked where I could make an appointment with a doctor, I had a lump under my nipple I wanted checked out. They said they couldnt help me I needed to go into the Emergency room and ask there. So I walked into the emergency room and asked the nice young lady behind the counter if I could make an appointment with a doctor I had a lump under my nipple I needed checked out and I gestured towards my right nipple. She said sure and asked if I could wait on the hospital bed over yonder till the doctor could get to me. So I wondered over there and had a seat. A nurse came over and took my blood pressure which I thought was odd but whatever. Procedure maybe. Then she told me to lie down and I told her no thanks Im fine. Then another nurse came over and told me to open my shirt and lay back so I did but told her I was only interested in making an appointment. Then a doctor showed up and they started getting wires out and putting suction cups on me and plugging me in and I started freaking out. Next thing you know I have 3 or 4 nurses surrounding me and a doctor and theyre telling me I need to lie down and be quiet. I could hear my heart going faster and faster on the machine and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Printouts being passed to the doctor, them telling me to be quiet, wires all over me, things beeping. I was like freak the f#ck out man what the hell. Finally everybody walks away, I can hear my heart rate start to slow back down on the machine, a minute passes and the doctor comes back over to me and says, Your heart is fine. And I laughed and said, Well thats a relief because you almost gave me a heart attack. I only came here to make an appointment; I have a lump I wanted checked out. 8-/ Oh, sorry mister, the doctor will be here in 10 minutes. You can wait if you like. Ill wait out here. Thanks. I couldnt get out of there fast enough. Ultimately I went to Singapore where they told me it wasnt cancer but that I need to take better care of myself AND I got to have an ultrasound of my testes by a relatively attractive looking nurse which I thought was pretty fancy. Thanks for making De Hooi Southern Jakartas favorite beer joint. Dont forget, May 12th is De Hoois 5th Anniversary! Cheers,

Harry

WALKERS WORLD OF WIT

Say Partner
A cowboy rode into town and stopped at a saloon for a drink. Unfortunately, the locals always had a habit of picking on strangers, which he was. When he finished his drink, he found his horse had been stolen. He went back into the bar, handily flipped his gun into the air, caught it above his head without even looking and fired a shot into the ceiling. Which one of you sidewinders stole my horse?!?!? he yelled with surprising forcefulness. No one answered. Alright, Im gonna have another beer, and if my horse aint back outside by the time I finish, Im gonna do what I dun in Texas! And I dont like to have to do what I dun in Texas! Some of the locals shifted restlessly. The man, true to his word, had another beer, walked outside, and his horse has been returned to the post. He saddled up and started to ride out of town. The bartender wandered out of the bar and asked, Say partner, before you go... what happened in Texas? The cowboy turned back and said, I had to walk home.

Lions FC player Chris Stewart and his entire family are this weeks window models of the week. Great family photo!

Picture This!
A man goes skydiving. After a fantastic free fall he pulls the rip cord to open his parachute but nothing happens. He tries everything but cant get it open. Just then another man flies by him, going UP. The skydiver yells, Hey, you know anything about parachutes? The man replies, No, you know anything about gas stoves?

Lost Wife
Two guys are moving about in a supermarket when their carts collide. One says to the other, Im sorry - I was looking for my wife. What a coincidence, so am I, and Im getting a little desperate. Well, maybe I can help you. What does your wife look like? Shes tall, with long hair, long legs, firm boobs and a tight ass. Whats your wife look like? Never mind, lets look for yours!

Antique Dog Prints

From Histoire Naturelle
These delightful prints are from Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffons multi-volume work Histoire Naturelle. Publishing began for this monumental work in 1749 and continued until 1783. Histoire Naturelle was one of the most expansive works done in the field of natural history and sparked European interest in the field. His work became one of the most informative sources as far as the visual appearance of animals, and was highly understandable for a wide audience. Buffon described his work and love for natural history by stating that, Natural history embraces all the objects the universe presents to us. This prodigious multitude of quadrupeds, birds, fish, insects, plants, minerals, etc., offers to the curiosity of the human mind a vast spectacle, of which the whole is so great that the details are inexhaustible. Jacques E. De Seve was the principal artist for the work, who not only portrayed the animals, but insisted on creating magnificent backgrounds in which to view them.

BuGils FC

Issue#56

Since the last match report BuGils has played a series of games involving visiting teams. First up was the annual three-team BPL cup - BuGils, Pirates [Singapore] and Lions. This year a fourth team was added into the mix as we played host to a team of visiting professionals from Brazil. Murphys was kind enough to sponsor them by providing a green kit and in return they allowed some Murphys players to join them on the pitch. Not surprisingly they turned out winners, with BuGils second, although the teams who had given the cup its name felt that sending only two of the Murphys boys to join the assembled throng in the the pub (to collect the trophy) late in the evening wasnt quite in line with the spirit in which the cup had originally been conceived. Next we played a team from Beijing named Sexy. I dont believe anyone asked the origin of their name.. It was definitely not obvious. Sexy were here for a stag weekend.....possibly a little bit of a sadistic choice of destination on the part of the best man as there cant be too many cities above Jakarta on the list Places I was when I realized my mistake. Anyway, the match and the after-match were played in good spirit and generated a few notable moments. BuGils arrived at the pitch to be greeted by the sight of a Sexy team warming up in full matching training kit. This is somewhat alien to us and we wondered if perhaps we were in for a bit of a tough afternoon. However we were only a few minutes into the game when Yon, standing on the half way line, spotted the Sexy keeper standing about four meters out of his goal and sent a looping lob into the back of the net. During the remainder of the first half it became apparent that, whilst the benefits of a team warm up probably take up a chapter in most coaching manuals, touching down in the away location at midnight the night before the match and spending the next six hours in the sleaziest bars you can find is probably not. We were cruising by half time when the request came in to engineer a penalty to allow the groom-to-be to score. King in goal slightly misinterpreted this, first reacting a bit too slowly to disguise the obvious dive by one of Sexys on loan Lions players, then, when a few minutes later a penalty actually was awarded and the groom got his chance of a moment of glory, saving it! Alls well that ends well they say though and the groom scored later (ahem!). A comfortable win for BuGils in the end, which unfortunately cannot also be said for the boat race between the teams in EP later in the evening; yours truly guilty for that loss by taking approximately 30 mins to down my glass of beer. I used to be fast at certain things, though never at skulling beers, but these days everything seems to have slowed down. I would ask that you resist any urge to verify this fact with my wife. On the assumption that the readership of this section barely extends beyond the BuGils team itself, some readers may recall that in the last report I mentioned Willie van Blisterboys heroics in scoring four goals in a game. Willie himself felt that scoring four goals in one game merited a bit more attention than merely comparing him to Messi, so Id like to take this opportunity to right that wrong. In our next match, Alex2 (so called because hes the second Alex to join our team - we like to feel were keeping up the footballing tradition of funny and original nick-names), scored four fantastic goals and surely would have scored more if someone hadnt persuaded coach to substitute him. Another amazing performance from Alex2 in a stellar season which surely caps him as the standout player of the season. Bosky and Rodrigo also scored in a 6-1 victory over the Lions. Rodrigo only played for five minutes...enough time to score to win a bet with Eli and impress his watching girlfriend. Willie failed to score in that match, in front of his visiting mother and sister, who were nonetheless kind enough to share with us some of his earlier career achievements. For instance, we had not been aware that he had a medal collection, having come second in a violin competition some time before arriving in Jakarta. There was some suggestion that he only narrowly missed first prize but the judges felt that, despite the lack of other participants, he wasnt quite at the level necessary for the gold. They also explained that Willie is lucky to be able to play at all, having suffered a very nasty leg break falling out of a shopping trolley as a youngster - apparently the emergency room at the hospital had a pediatrician and infant cot ready for his arrival and were a bit taken aback when a fourteen year old was wheeled in. Just time and space, hopefully, to squeeze in mention of the latest game - a cup match against DoIt. Last time out against them we lost by an embarrassing amount, with many of our players missing and those that turned up guilty of excesses the night before. So we were determined to make amends and avenge with victory....our first ever against them. It didnt quite happen; the game ending in a 1-1 draw, largely due to the heroics of their eponymously-named Keeper. Well, either his name was Keeper or none of the DoIt team had been introduced to him before the match. Anyway, the cup works in a league system at this stage and a comfortable victory against the Lions will still see us in the semis. Possible?
