Seeing the End(Telos) of Our Faith

Simon Barjona / Peter / Cephas

1Pe_1:1-25
1) Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout
Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2) Elect according to the
foreknowledge(G4268) of God the Father,
through sanctification(G38) of the Spirit,
unto
obedience and sprinkling
of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
foreknowledge(G4268)
>>>prognosis<<< (prog'-no-sis)
From G4267; forethought
: - foreknowledge.
G4267
proginosko (prog-in-oce'-ko)
From G4253 and G1097; to know beforehand, that is, foresee
: - foreknow (ordain), know (before).

From the Webster's Dictionary:

>>>Prognosis<<< (The Greek word itself will provide more in detail)
PROGNO'SIS, n. [Gr. to know before.] In medicine, the art of foretelling the event of a disease;
the judgment of the event of a disease by particular symptoms.

Scripture concerning foreknowledge:

(Act_2:21-36) + (Mat_13:23, Act_3:24)

The Elect do not become who they are by just a flashing thought in a moment. Having foreknowledge
is understanding the outcome, the end result.
They know who GOD the FATHER is. They listened to HIM. If HE is the Living Word, then the
Words HE spoke is Alive. How do they receive this foreknowledge?

Verse 2, brought to us by Peter (Cephas) a rock into which CHRIST YAHSHUAH chose as an
ensample to us. What has Peter taught us in his walk with Our FATHER? The second verse tells us
what Peter has learned. He made mistakes along the way. Why? Because he didn't quite grasp
everything YAHSHUAH was teaching him. Something to pay close attention to is the moment Peter
met with YAHSHUAH. What did HE say to him? Have a look into this, there may be some things you
pick up in regards to Rev_3:7-13. Keywords; Peter, Cephas, blood, key (+s)
Back to what Peter says in depth of verse two...

through sanctification(G38) of the Spirit:

sanctification(G38)
hagiasmos (hag-ee-as-mos')

: - holiness, sanctification.

G37
hagiazo (hag-ee-ad'-zo)
From G40; to make holy, that is, (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate
: - hallow, be holy, sanctify.

G40
hagios (hag'-ee-os)
From αγος hagos (an awful thing) compare G53, [H2282]; sacred (physically pure,
morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated)
: - (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more
and more.
2) For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3) For this is the will of God, even your sanctification(G38), that ye should abstain from
fornication:
4) That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification(G38) and
honour;
5) Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6) That no man go beyond and defraud(G4122) his brother in any matter(G4229): because that
the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7) For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness(G38).
8) He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his
holy Spirit.

Joh_17:17-21
17) Sanctify(G37) them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19) And for their sakes I sanctify(G37) myself, that they also might be sanctified(G37)
through the truth.
20) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through
their word;
21) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also
may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Eph_5:25-28
25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church(G1577), and gave
himself for it;

What is the church?

G1577 ekklesia (ek-klay-see'-ah)

From a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out, that
is, (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation
(Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or
saints in heaven or both)
: - assembly, church.

26) That he might sanctify(G37) and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy(G40) and without blemish.
28) So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife
loveth himself.

1Th_5:11-24
11) Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12) And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are
over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13) And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace
among yourselves.
14) Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15) See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good,
both among yourselves, and to all men.
16) Rejoice evermore.
17) Pray without ceasing.
18) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning
you.
19) Quench not the Spirit.
20) Despise not prophesyings.
21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22) Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23) And the very God of peace sanctify(G37) you wholly(G3651); and I pray God your
whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

What is the meaning behind this word wholly? In the Greek it is used only here.

G3651 >>>holoteles<<< (hol-ot-el-ace')

From G3650 and G5056; complete to the end, that is, absolutely perfect
: - wholly.
G3650 >>>holos<<< (hol'-os)
A primary word; “whole” or “all”, that is, complete (in extent,
amount, time or degree), especially (neuter) as noun or adverb
: - all, altogether, every whit, + throughout, whole.

G5056 >>>telos<<< (tel'-os)

From a primary word τελλω tello (to set out for a definite point or
goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, that is, (by
implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally,
figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or
prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid)
: - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare
G5411.

This is a word that one should not forget. This is our goal in CHRIST
YAHSHUAH. You are given the instructions right here in 1Th_5:11-24. The
Greek word telos, is used in the English... have you ever heard of a telescope?
By looking into one, you can 'see' from the point you are standing to wherever
the magnification takes you (opens up the distance between you and the
destination) – from one point to however a distance that you can see (How
much do you study HIS Word?). Ever look through a dirty lens? Keep that
word in mind, it'll come up again.

24) Faithful(G4103) is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Faith is a word that should be clearly understood:

G4103 pistos (pis-tos')

From G3982; objectively trustworthy; subjectively trustful
: - believe (-ing, -r), faithful (-ly), sure, true.

G3982 peitho (pi'-tho)

A primary verb; to convince (by argument, true or false); by
analogy to pacify or conciliate (by other fair means); reflexively or
passively to assent (to evidence or authority), to rely (by inward
certainty)
: - agree, assure, believe, have confidence, be (wax) content, make
friend, obey, persuade, trust, yield.

So what is Faith? First, before one has faith in someone or something there are
requirements that have to be met. The same as when a man and woman meet, in
order to build a relationship it requires trust by getting to know one another.

The Greek word meaning for “peitho” shows to convince (by argument, true or
false). It's a building up in trust. And how one builds that relationship with Our
FATHER is by communication in HIS Word. Pray to HIM – ask HIM for
knowledge with reverence. Sometimes you may feel like your answer isn't
coming, but through study – HE is building you up to understand the answer
HE has for you. So it's not that you are not getting an answer... it's the fact you
may not understand it. Do you “rely” on HIM for answers or is your trust in a
man? Love your neighbor but do Not put your full trust in him/her for the
hearing of HIS Word. Check them to HIS Word... is that what HE tells you?
Practice patience, HE is patient with you as HE also has Faith in you.

The next word shows this to be true (unto) and that that follows is where you find the answers.
Interesting that the pronunciation of the Greek word itself is “ice”, as in 'breaking the ice'.
However, in the English ice is water that is frozen. It's the meaning behind the term.

Unto(G1519):

unto(G1519)
eis (ice)
A primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or
(figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases.
: - [abundant-] ly, against, among, as, at, [back-] ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far
more exceeding, for [intent, purpose], fore, + forth, in (among, at unto, -so much that, -to), to
the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-) on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that,
therefore (-unto), throughout, till, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-) until (-to), . . . ward, [where-]
fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.)
expressing motion (literally or figuratively.

obedience(G5218):
obedience(G5218)
hupakoe (hoop-ak-o-ay')
From G5219; attentive hearkening, that is, (by implication) compliance or submission
: - obedience, (make) obedient, obey (-ing).

G5219
hupakouo (hoop-ak-oo'-o)
From G5259 and G191; to hear under (as a subordinate), that is, to listen attentively; by
implication to heed or conform to a command or authority
: - hearken, be obedient to, obey.

G5259
hupo (hoop-o')
A primary preposition; under, that is, (with the genitive) of place (beneath), or
with verbs (the agency or means, through); (with the accusative) of place
(whither [underneath] or where [below]) or time (when [at])
: - among, by, from, in, of, under, with. In compounds it retains the same
genitive applications, especially of inferior position or condition, and specifically
covertly or moderately.

G191
akouo (ak-oo'-o)
A primary verb; to hear (in various senses)
: - give (in the) audience (of), come (to the ears), ([shall]) hear (-er, -ken), be
noised, be reported, understand.

after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ,
hath abounded unto many.
16) And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to
condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17) For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive
abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so
by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19) For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience(G5218) of
one shall many be made righteous.

forbid.

servants ye are to whom ye obey(G5219); whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience(G5218) unto righteousness?
17) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed(G5219)
from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19) I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye
have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even
so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness(G38).

and sprinkling(G4473):
sprinkling(G4473)
rhantismos (hran-tis-mos')
From G4472; aspersion (ceremonially or figuratively)
: - sprinkling.

G4472
rhantizo (hran-tid'-zo)
From a derivative of ῥαινω rhaino (to sprinkle); to render besprinkled, that is, asperse
ceremonially or figuratively)
: - sprinkle.

13) For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling(G4472)

living God?

God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling(G4473),
that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Why would it say YAHSHUAH'S sprinkling of blood speaketh better things than that
of Abel? To better understand this... check out the study I worked on having to do with
Abel and his blood (Tiller of the ground – Working in the Field). The Hebrew meanings
of the words.

Heaven who revealed the Truth to Peter. It is the same for those who have eyes to see

When is it that Peter would begin to be called Cephas? By

interpretation a stone? It is after CHRIST YAHSHUAH rose
again. Cephas, would be the first to see HIM after HIS
resurrection. Then after the twelve would also. Makes one
consider Peter's life – walk.

19) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt

loosed in heaven.

Notice, the order YAHSHUAH gave this in.

1. That thou art Peter, 2. and upon this rock

I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And here is a special privilege given to him in verse 19:

heaven.

HIS Blood cleanses us from the Inside out. The sprinkling of HIS Blood is the “truth”
stayed in ones heart/mind.
Here a little, there a little (Isa_28:1-29) – absorb HIS Word (digest it)... Understand it.
Hollows out the hard hearted – rock.
Keeps the spiritual heart alive unto everlasting life after death of the flesh.

3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to
his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away,
reserved in heaven for you,
5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be
revealed in the last time.
6) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in
heaviness through manifold temptations:
7) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and
honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet
believing, ye rejoice with joy(G5479) unspeakable(G412) and full of
glory(G1392):
There are no words humanly possible to explain the feeling one gets when met with joy
unspeakable and full of glory. But there is something in it, familiar, but not felt in such a way
the world would give it. Tremendous Comfort as that of being a child of a caring parent, but
still even surpasses that. The word unspeakable in this verse is it's only occurrence.

joy(G5479)
chara (khar-ah')
From G5463; cheerfulness, that is, calm delight
: - gladness, X greatly, (X be exceeding) joy (-ful, -fully, -fulness, -ous).

G5463
chairo (khah'ee-ro)
A primary verb; to be full of “cheer”, that is, calmly happy or well off; impersonal
especially as a salutation (on meeting or parting), be well
: - farewell, be glad, God speed, greeting, hail, joy (-fully), rejoice.

unspeakable(G412)
aneklaletos (an-ek-lal'-ay-tos)
From G1 (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of G1583; not spoken out, that is, (by
implication) unutterable
: - unspeakable.
G1
A (al'-fah)
Of Hebrew origin; the first letter of the alphabet: figuratively only (from its use as a
numeral) the first. Often used (usually “an”, before a vowel) also in composition (as a
contraction from G427) in the sense of privation; so in many words beginning with this
letter; occasionally in the sense of union (as a contraction of G260)
: - Alpha.

full of glory(G1392)
doxazo (dox-ad'-zo)
From G1391; to render (or esteem) glorious (in a wide application)
: - (make) glorify (-ious), full of (have) glory, honour, magnify.
G1391
doxa (dox'-ah)
From the base of G1380; glory (as very apparent), in a wide application (literally or
figuratively, objectively or subjectively)
: - dignity, glory (-ious), honour, praise, worship.
G1380
dokeo (dok-eh'-o)
A prolonged form of a primary verb δοκω doko (used only as an alternate in
certain tenses; compare the base of G1166); of the same meaning; to think; by
implication to seem (truthfully or uncertainly)
: - be accounted, (of own) please (-ure), be of reputation, seem (good), suppose,
think, trow.

9) Receiving the end(G5056) of your faith(G4102), even the salvation of your

souls.

Which makes this verse very interesting. This Joy unspeakable is a part of the end of ones faith
in CHRIST YAHSHUAH. I say part, because we're still housed in the flesh body. Here is where
we will go into two words our FATHER gives us – which were held back for a purpose.

end(G5056)
telos (tel'-os)
From a primary word τελλω tello (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point
aimed at as a limit, that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally,
figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an
impost or levy (as paid)
: - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

faith(G4102)
pistis (pis'-tis)
From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness
of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy
in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself
: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

G3982
peitho (pi'-tho)
A primary verb; to convince (by argument, true or false); by analogy to pacify or
conciliate (by other fair means); reflexively or passively to assent (to evidence or
authority), to rely (by inward certainty)
: - agree, assure, believe, have confidence, be (wax) content, make friend, obey,
persuade, trust, yield.

10) Of which salvation(G4991) the prophets have enquired and searched

diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

salvation(G4991)
soteria (so-tay-ree'-ah)
Feminine of a derivative of G4990 as (properly abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or
morally)
: - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.
G4990
soter (so-tare')
From G4982; a deliverer, that is, God or Christ
: - saviour.
G4982
sozo (sode'-zo)
From a primary word σως sosP (contraction for the obsolete σαος saos, “safe”) ; to
save, that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively)
: - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

11) Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in
them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and
the glory that should follow.
12) Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did
minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have
preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven;
which things the angels desire to look into.
13) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for
the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14) As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former
lusts in your ignorance:
15) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of
conversation;
16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17) And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth
according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from
your fathers;
19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and
without spot:
20) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was
manifest in these last times for you,
21) Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave
him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a
pure heart fervently:
23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word
of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The
grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by
the gospel is preached unto you.

Psa_3:3-5
3) But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the
lifter up of mine head.
4) I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out
of his holy hill. Selah.
5) I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained
me.
